Here are my picks for today along with some research to go with each one:
Totals:
Canucks @ Stars, Over 5.5 (+130) - Last 3 Stars games have gone Over, including one to the Canucks last Friday. Stars seem to have found their Offense. 4 of the last 5 Canucks games have gone Over. HTH the over is 2-2. Like the value at +130 here.
Bruins @ Lightning, Over 5.5 (-125) - 3 of the last 4 meetings hit the over, the one game that didn't hit the over hit 5. All high scoring games. 2 of the last 3 games for Bruins have gone Over. The last 6 TB games have gone Over. TB #1 in the league in scoring, I like the Over here.
Wild @ Oilers, Under 5 (even) - see post #1470 (last post on the previous page)
ML:
Canucks @ Stars, Stars ML (+130) - This is more of a value pick. Canucks are a -150 favorite on the road against a team they lost to on Friday at home. I like the Stars at home on 3 days rest.
Bruins @ Lightning, Lightning ML (even) - Bruins team has been a little under the weather and have lost 2 of their last 3, with their one win coming against Winnipeg. TB has won 4 straight at home against Boston and has scored 5 goals in each of those games. They seemed to have found their offense again recently. Like TB here.
Wild @ Oilers, Wild ML (even) - I know the Wild are terrible on the road but Oilers are not that great at home and the Wild own the Oilers the last 2 seasons, going 10-2. The Wild have been the better team as of late and they are well rested, like them to add another road win here against a weak Oilers team.Comment -

Schneider and Nilstrop in goal for VAN/DAL ....STARS have good value on ML, rested team, though VAN has gotten a lot of talk, both teams are tied with 8 wins for the season.
Combine that with the fact that VAN is the ONLY team who couldn't beat Bachman aka Empty Net

February 9th. That's the last time the Flyers played on home ice....that's 6 games away from the Wells Fargo Center. You could say that Pitt is practically a home game, but I don't buy it, especially on the tail end of playing 5 on the road. To top their road trip off, they left everything on the ice last night. This is a weary team that has had offensive issues, regardless of the 13 they put in the net during the past two games. First game back from a long road trip and I think we see them in a bit of a letdown spot against the lackluster Panthers, who went scoreless against the leafs. Two games off and first game on the road, I could see backing the Panthers in a value spot. However, with the Panthers experimenting with their lineups recently, I am not so sure they break out of their offensive slump. I am feeling pretty good about the Under in this one. In each of the back to back games that the Flyers played over their 6-game road trip, they managed to get off a measly 23 and 19 shots. While one of those back to backs was against the Canadians and their stellar D, the other was against the Jets and their Swiss Cheese D. Though Masseysratings.com ranks Florida's D at the bottom of the league (#30) and their offense isn't much better (#29), I think they play hard tonight and I am counting on them doing enough on the defensive end to handle a tired Flyers team tonight. Stay off the side and bet the total!
