I think so. There's a reason we have a 3 round main event. The young kid is the next big thing and UFC doesn't want him to gas out in late rounds. UFC wants him to get a big name under his belt, even if that win is against a 36 year old Brunson.
Shouldn't matter though as I see him knocking Brunson out in rd 1.

(I feel like I'm posting too much of late, said nothing about main event cardio over the last week)
Only want to point out Shahbazyan has only gone to rounds 2 and 3 once in his career.
Its normal for guys who chronically finish in round 1 to gas out in deeper waters. The first time they go there.
I made $$ fading team head mooment in the past. This time I might have to put my $$ on team head mooment, instead. Strange world we living in.

I think this is the single most likely outcome but Shahbazyan's cardio looked awful in the Stewart fight (the only time he's ever been out of R1), and he was able to use his wrestling as a safety blanket, something that he won't be able to do here.

We will be looking to bet Brunson live later in the fight then but make no mistake that fighters improve and so could Shahbazzyan and his cardio.

Round 1, 10-9 Durden.
Never landed significant strikes, never came close to finishing the fight.

Significant strikes in round 2 were not.
"17 Gutierrez 14 Durden."
Significant strikes guy showing once again why his is the number #1 bs stat
Gutierrez outstruck Durden by a larger margin than that.

I guess they scored the 1st round a 10-8 due to the new california rules being in effect.
California ruining the sport, like you'd expect.

I thought a Draw was the right score. Durden had Back Mount for almost all of R1 and Gutierrez did literally nothing.

I would prefer 10-9.
Gutierrez did nothing. But Durden also did nothing aside from holding and throwing pitter patter punches.
Its like a round where nothing happened with only a few jabs landed.

I disagree but I understand where you're coming from. Durden definitely didn't win the fight. I think 28-28 Draw and 29-28 Gutierrez are both defensible scores.

Agree.
New california rules are bad IMO. Lay and pray on someone for 5 minutes: 10-8. Taking someone's back and doing nothing for 5 minutes: 10-8.
It encourages holding and stalling. If you get a good position you can do absolutely nothing and the judges will reward you as if you had almost finished the fight.

Here's how media had it. Pretty even split between Gutierrez scores and Draw scores
