Most people don't want to bet $470 to win $100 straight up and prefer to parlay it to bring down the amount they are risking. You can say "bet half that, win, then go all in on the next guy" but again most people don't want to run to the sportsbook after every fight. They like to place their bets and watch the fights. Then maybe you should write, "Parlay x with y, because sometimes its not convenient to make TWO bets!"

If you parlay fighter A +100 and fighter B +100, for $100, and fighter A wins, the sum of your total wager on fighter B is now $200. $200 to win $200. That is your money, you won that wager, and now you're risking it on another wager. That's how a parlay works. If you're truly risking less for a bigger payout, then there's no reason to play anything but parlays. Besides, if both of the legs are +EV, you should have no problem betting the appropriate amount on them anyway, if you abide by proper bankroll management. Appropriate risk != lowest possible risk.
