Took yesterday off. I didn’t have the time to cap as it takes a lot of time. It’s no issue to take a day off here and there. In fact, I think everyone should take a day off here and there especially if you are affected by tough losses. Tilt is the biggest thing causing people to lose more than anything. So don’t be afraid to take a day off.

I had a dm in my tweeter asking me if I could show how I cap these games. My answer was yes. But it’s not just a couple sentences. Rather than explaining how I do it I’ll just break down one of my plays tonight. I usually just have chicken scratch notes all over the place but I’ll try to word this as best as I can.

Let’s take a look at Astros/Tigers tonight.
Astros -155 and O/U of 8.5

Brad Peacock- most of the Detroit hitters have not seen this guy outside of a few. Castellanos comes in at 1 for 10 and miggy 2/8. Everyone else has yet to face peacock. That’s a big note too. Usually the more times a batter faces a pitcher advantage goes to hitter. I’ve played and watched enough to know that’s pretty obvious. Peacock on the road the last 3 years 10 wins 5 losses 3.35 ERA. Peacock lately is coming off a stellar outing which was preceded by a pathetic one. But 3 of his last 4 starts have been very solid. Peacock brings in an 4.3 ERA and a 4.19 xFIP. 9ks per 9 and 2 walks/per 9.

Boyd- The Astro’s have seen Boyd. And some notables. Brantley 4/14. Chirinos 3/7 w/ 2hrs. While Boyd has fared well against bregman, springer, gurriel, Correa, and Diaz. Boyd has been phenomenal at home this year 3-0 with 7earned runs allowed in 26 innings while striking out 28 and only allowing 18 hits. Impressive stuff thus far. Boyd always seems to be much better at home. Last 3 years 12-10 w/ 3.85 ERA at home compared to a 9-19 w/5.54 era on the road. Form as of late- 7 straight quality starts. He’s been very solid. His xFIP is 3.38 while ERA is 2.86. Suggesting he’s actually pitched very solid and hasn’t been overly lucky.

Tonight’s umpire - Paul Emmel. Home team record is 3-3 and under record is 1-5 so far this year. And emmel is a historically over favorable umpire.

Weather looks to be cold-ish for baseball 51 degrees and dropping.

Houston pen top of league. Tigers pen bottom of league.

Other notes. Altuve not in lineup - injured. Diaz to play 2nd

Now we target some lines. Can get an under 8.5 out there at +105 or an under 9 at -125. Which my evidence points to the under despite emmel behind the dish. But emmel and tigers pen do scare me. Also there is Under 4 for the first 5 out there at -105 and under 4.5 at one shop for -125. I’ll take the juice and the half run for a play. And will also back the under 8.5 at +105 for the game. I don’t want to double dip in heavier juice. Just in case the game does get away and I lose both. I would rather just lose the -125 and +105 than double -125s.
