      DD,

Question. Did you alter the parameters for reliever plays this year? It seems like last year there almost no days with no plays and many days had 3-6 plays. Also the overall number of plays is down significantly in comparison to this point last season. Just wondering.

      Thanks

The O/U percentages where extracted from covers.com

Being a big NBA bettor, DDs forum has been a great introductory to the dynamics of baseball.

The value add on the link above is that it's been a rough stretch for over/unders in the past 10 days. I'm a big proponent of law of averages, so it's been amazing that with proper bankroll management and saavy capping, DDs been able to navigate through this rough patch.

If anything, these games should serve as mental data points for future decisions.

Over the course of last year and continuing this year, I have added some filters which by definition will reduce the number of plays. Last year we had some 6-1 days but also had some 1-6 days, and I am not a big fan of playing a lot of plays each day.

                          FYI:

In Post #597 Mackballs asked if there was a reason for less plays than last year. I explained why in Post #600.

So, this morning I thought I would post the two plays that would have been posted last year before I added some reliever based filters.

                          Here they are:

                          NYY/Tor over 9
                          TB/Sea over 8.5

These are not plays for record keeping but just to follow up on an earlier question.

                          DD

Wash / Oak is 8.5 not 9.5 or did the line move that much?

                                                                Some reasons for Regular Play:

Low pitch count for starters, slight out to right wind, 75% humidity (Contrary to what a lot of people believe, the higher the humidity the farther the ball travels), VMI for both teams is a PLUS number, relievers both in work/rest and ERA, right left matchup leans over and umpire is a slight over ump. Now they have to play the game.

The effect of humidity on air density is very slight and is actually opposite what it is commonly purported to be. The common reputation of humidity is that it is heavy; however, this is a misnomer. Humidity is actually light for a projectile to fly through, because there is more hydrogen in humid air than in dry air, which contains a larger percentage of nitrogen. And, of course, nitrogen is heavier than hydrogen. The "Neeley Scale" takes into account humidity, as well as temperature and elevation-related barometric pressure.
