actually was just posting something regarding. those splits, plus i expect inspired effort from Nats after ridiculous Harper ejection. they've been sitting around for a day stewing over that, while Phils fly back from four-game set at Coors that has their bullpen very taxed. Scherzer has been lights out all season with except of Marlins game. i think that this is an uncommon regular season game in which one team will show up feeling as if it has something for which to play. Nats have already lit up O'Sullivan for 6 ER in 11 innings in two starts this season. this is third Scherzer/O'Sullivan match-up this season (wake up Abner Doubleday), and only reason Nats didn't cover RL in both was bullpen, not Scherzer.

I realize Braxton & JT are recovering but what's the word coming out of Columbus? Can they replace Cardale after such a remarkable, never seen before run to the nat'l championship? This situation while good on paper it could divide the team no matter what decision *** makes. Gd I'm ready for some pigskin.

Thanks, STF! Kids stayed up to watch first few innings of Tribe game with me last night and man was it fun. Glad that Salazar put together an entire stellar start. Felt almost weird to finish a big day with zero stress with Tribe building big lead early. Fun night on the couch with the windows open enjoying listening to White Sox fans heckle Tyler Flowers.

Checking with my top 3 Buckeye inside info sources right now, just sent the email. Those guys are on Buckeye pay info sites every few days even this time of the year. I asked them to establish odds on all three candidates. Cardale Jones has to be the favorite, due both to health and the title run. I have a feeling that one (Braxton Miller, most likely) will transfer. One rumor has them asking Miller to convert to receiver/tight end position because that's his best chance to be a long-term pro. Hopefully, he takes a lesson from Tebow's failures and gets proactive. Jones or Barrett to Miller on a bubble screen would be sickass.

here's my initial shot at odds, eyeballing soccer odds for a three-result base:
Jones: -175
Barrett: +300
Miller: +500

No way no how would Urban name a starter now with no real competition having occurred due to injury. Re-earning your position every day is one of his big mantras.

Jones is presumptive starter because other two aren't healthy, and i think that the smart money is on Jones to start and Miller to transfer. Really hope Miller entertains position switch (pretty sure he'd have to sit out a year because i don't think he can graduate in time to transfer with immediate eligibility, but i definitely could be wrong on that). If choice is being electrifying receiver outside and playing this year on title contender vs sitting and waiting to play in a year, i know what i would decide. Then again, i'm not even as good an athlete as Meyer's daughter, much less Braxton Miller.

Anytime. Posting plays with no discussion or justification is boring and a giant circle-jerk. People either tail or don't, then congratulate or bash. Waste of everyone's breath if we're not discussing and learning.

I really don't see Nats letdown precisely because of the Harper ejection. That could be a real rah-rah clubhouse momentum builder on a team already finding its stride. Ejection (and resulting clubhouse impact) is a big part of my rationale. I don't normally go hunting to play -300 faves, much less have 2.2u riding on them between ML and RL.

This much i know: Harper wasn't out getting boozy and feeling fat and happy last two days since ejection by Hudson. He's a true steakhead and i imagine that he's champing at the bit to play tonight. He and Scherzer are both clubhouse leaders (just ask the Tigers on the latter). I think we see focused Nats team tonight, but i've been wrong many many times before.

I see it as a 2-horse race between Cardale and JT. I don't think Miller will be healthy enough come the start of practice to win it back. I do think he will play this season though, taking reps from whomever wins the job.

The thing that isn't discussed enough, imho, is that JT already beat Cardale out for the starting QB job. Granted, it was last year, but what changed since then? Obviously, Cardale played 3 really good games against quality opponents. But it is hard for me to imagine that he showed skills that the coaches couldn't see during last years QB competition.

They felt JT was the man, and it was never really a 1A vs. 1B thing either. He was the man. (Granted Cardale was the early leader after the Brax injury.

Maybe they didn't realize how good a fit Cardale was for the offense (read: his cannon sure does spread out the D). Maybe he showed poise in high pressure situation they didn't think he had?

Anyhow, I'm sure that HoG and Kluge [NOTE: nicknames for other two guys i asked] have their own opinion. As for actual odds, I found this from back in January

Yes, but roof was open. If you look at Felix's starts at Toronto, he only got rocked with the roof open, and it's only been closed 1 of his last 6 starts there. Roof in Toronto never open in April and not often in May. It tends to be open on a consistent basis from like mid-June onward through end of season (unless rain of course).

I heart Betus. Cubs TT over 4 is -140 at both 5D and Pinny. if you don't have betus or another out hanging a number like this for you, i'd go 1u. Yes, -140 is a lot of juice, but (a) there is the possibility of a push, and (b) roof is open and Collmenter is pitching. Only home start this season in which he has looked decent was vs Rocks and roof was closed for that game. In his other 4 home starts, he allowed 5, 7, 4, 11. In 19 road games, Cubs have 0-3 runs in 7 (including last 3 games in SD, much more difficult park for their lineup), 3 with exactly 4 runs, and 9 with 5+ runs. i think that Cubs will tattoo Collmenter tonight. may well add a unit on game over so long as ump is favorable.
