In Danks' last 18 starts, opposition has scored three runs or less 3 times, exactly four runs 7 times, and five-plus runs 8 times (so, he's allowed four-plus runs 15 of 18 starts). Sox penned is seriously taxed and Reds hit lefties very well (5.48 runs/9 innings on season, 6.46 on the road).

Rick and Pacocn, thanks! Lovedale and i each scored our team's first 6 points, but i was unable to keep up with him for 40 minutes. He spent the 2H at the FT line, we were within 4 in final minute, lost by 7 after FTs. Oh well. Everyone in our starting lineup was 40+, everyone in theirs was 30 or under. We made a nice run as the #5 seed. Time to rest up and watch baseball - i'm one giant bruise.

I liked this pick and tailed it. Being a Reds fan, I watched with no surprise as they got 10 hits and repeatedly left men on base, including leaving a man at second with no one out in the ninth in a 3-3 tie. They are the worst team in baseball again at moving runners. I will factor that into any play I have involving my Reds

By the way, I meant no disrespect towards you in this quote. You had a great write up on that game. If the Reds were any good at all with runners in scoring position, this would have cashed easily.

Thanks, Rick! Wish we could've won it, this probably was our last good title shot in a non-40-and-over league. Oh well, no shame getting my ass kicked by a guy who was in the NBADL three years ago...

Thanks for the comments, and i took no offense whatsoever from them. Agree that the Reds are bad at moving runners over, hitting with RISP. Guess i just figured that 9 innings vs Danks and a taxed CWS pen would more than make up for it. i was wrong, and painfully so.

We actually lost in finals, but still grateful for the run that we made to get there. We were the team to beat in this league 10-12 years ago, now we're just hanging on. Gets no better than playing hoops with good friends. BOL tonight!

I respect your capping ability and check this thread everyday. I agreed whole heartedly in your assessment. The Reds just can't get it done. 10 hits and only 3 runs. Should have cashed easily

thank you for the kind words - i really appreciate them. my general rule of thumb is that runners left on base should be about double runs scored. when i watch a game, it seems that when that ratio gets far away from 2:1, the game ends up looking like an outlier and the result is not what i/we expected. Reds scored 3, left 9 on base yesterday (2-9 with RISP). we probably should've had a push with 4 runs scored and 8 LOB.
oh well - pretty sure that Tony at 5Dimes could not give a shit about my problems and my expectations. that's okay, Tony - i'm coming to get my money back tonight! (well, at least some of it - not going to be laying 5u at the window again tonight)

Shark horrific numbers with ONora in 4 starts, 7.56 ERA, 1.92 WHIP, only 8.1, 42 BF though. At very least, makes me rethink adjusting too much to under.

time for another break. crazy week at work, then leaving Thursday to take kids to Chicago for the weekend to celebrate my son's 6th birthday. will be at Rats/Cubs Saturday; unfortunately, it will be Jon Lester on the bump and the Rats speed on the basepaths in opposition. hoping Lester gets a friendly ump. BOL to all, see you guys next week.
