Marlins over Cardinals for Series (+155) risk 1.516 units to win 2.350 units
Monday: Nolasco vs Wellemeyer (advantage: MARLINS) -nolasco has pitched very well last 2 starts vs the braves and then the mets and looks to continue lower his ERA and earn W #12
Marlins: In his last start, Nolasco worked 6 1/3 innings against the Mets at Citi Field. It was his longest outing since recording a complete-game on Aug. 18 at Houston. The 26-year-old carried a two-hit shutout into the seventh inning, before he was scored upon. In his career, Nolasco has had two appearances at St. Louis, and he's 0-1 with a 5.73 ERA. Nolasco has logged 158 1/3 innings in 27 starts this season. Nolasco won a career high 15 last year, and he also had 11 wins as a rookie in 2006.
Cardinals: This start originally belonged to John Smoltz, but the veteran righty was scratched with shoulder tendinitis that isn't expected to keep him from taking the hill on Sept. 20. Wellemeyer has struggled this year but said he was encouraged following a bullpen session on Friday night. "I feel like I'm actually behind the ball for the first time," Wellemeyer said. "It actually has something on it."
Tuesday: West vs Wainwright (advantage: CARDINALS) -never know if west is gonna be lights out like he's been a few times and thus could make this game close but on paper cards have a BIG advantage
Marlins: In his last start, West exited after four-plus innings mainly because he rolled his right ankle while running the bases in the top of the fifth inning. The 6-foot-8 left-hander threw three scoreless innings, but he was tagged with two runs after he exited in the fifth inning with no outs. He insists his ankle is fine. West will be making his 17th big league start, and he's logged 88 innings. Counting 64 more innings in the Minor Leagues, he's thrown 152 innings on the season. The team is keeping close tabs on the rookie.
Cardinals: Wainwright reached two milestones his last time out -- 30 starts and 200 innings. Now he's closing in on one of the magic numbers in pitching -- 20 wins. He'll have several starts in which to pick up those last two victories, and he's also bolstering his Cy Young case with just about every outing. Wainwright has a 1.81 ERA since the All-Star break and has allowed three homers in 74 2/3 innings in that span.
GAME OF THE SERIES:
Wednesday: Johnson-Pinero (PUSH) -johnson has had a lot of trouble lately with throwing strikes, 4 walks last time, and thus his pitch count has skyrocketed quickly and thus is out before the 6th. he's also thrown a career high in innings and it climbs with every start and though we dont want to hurt him, he's gotta get it together and give us ATLEAST 7 strong. get this boy win #15 BABY! the cards counter with pinero and he's been a VERY pleasant surprise this year for the red birds and give em a shot to win every 5 days, escpially when he's at busch.
Marlins: Other than a two-run homer by Adam Dunn in the first inning, Johnson was barely hit hard in a no-decision against the Nationals on Friday. But because of a high pitch count, he didn't get into the sixth inning for the second straight outing -- with both coming against Washington -- and couldn't get in line to record his 23rd quality start of the year. The 25-year-old finished having allowed two runs on two hits and four walks while striking out eight, but he threw 89 pitches after five innings, and only 51 of them were strikes. Johnson has already notched career-highs in starts, wins, innings and strikeouts this season and has won 19 of his last 23 decisions. He's 0-1 with a 3.95 ERA in two career starts against the Cardinals.
Cardinals: Pineiro's done it a little bit differently in the second half, but every bit as well as he did in the first. He's striking out more batters over the past couple of months, while keeping his ground-ball rate just as ridiculously high as it was early in the season. That's added up to continued success for the right-hander, who has clearly established himself as the choice to be the Cards' No. 3 starter in a playoff series. He's been especially outstanding at home, with a 2.52 ERA at Busch Stadium.
though it looks like wednesday's game will decide this series HOPEFULLY west can show some brillance and atleats give us a legit chance on tuesday.
after that nats loss we're pretty much dead and i concede this season but hopefully we show up for the last few weeks and compete.

Anibal actually pitched alright. Offense always struggles against soft throwing pitchers though... (think Jamie Moyer) eeesh. Coulda picked up ground in the wild card too.

yep, bats are too jittery and they NEVER sit back on that slow garbage, moyer/livan/zito all give us the bizness with that slow shit which is expected for a young team. and worst part down 3-0 after an inning, WE ALWAYS get down a few after 1 and that just kills everything, shcoked they couldnt hit after playing great in STL
