The Makhachev to win + Round 3 to start combo is my best bet, and it draws on Garry's durability. His last six fights have all reached the scorecards, including five-rounders against Shavkat Rakhmonov and Carlos Prates, and he has never been finished as a professional. Rakhmonov controlled him for 11:41, but Garry still defended eight of 10 takedown attempts and made it through all 25 minutes. He followed that by stuffing all seven of Belal Muhammad's shots last November.
That doesn't mean I expect Garry to stop Makhachev's wrestling. It means I trust him to survive it for 10 minutes. Alexander Volkanovski went five rounds with Makhachev in their first meeting, Dustin Poirier lasted until 2:42 of Round 5, and Della Maddalena made it to the final horn despite spending more than 19 minutes under Makhachev's control. I only need Round 3 to begin and the champion to eventually win. That's a much friendlier ask than needing all 25 minutes, and I'm laying 1.5 units at -155.

Makhachev answered the size question against Della Maddalena, landing all four takedowns and controlling him for 19:10 in a 50-45 sweep. He enters his first defense riding 16 straight UFC wins, tied with Anderson Silva for the longest streak in promotional history.
Garry brings a different challenge at 6-foot-3 with a 74.5-inch reach. He lands 4.78 significant strikes per minute and owns 80% takedown defense. He stuffed all seven of Belal Muhammad's attempts while outlanding him 72-56, then landed four takedowns of his own against Carlos Prates.
Makhachev needs to take away Garry's space and turn striking exchanges into clinches and control. His calf kicks helped slow Della Maddalena before the grappling took over. Garry also defended eight of Rakhmonov's 10 takedowns but still surrendered almost 12 minutes of control. Makhachev can follow that blueprint, keeping Garry in bad positions and banking rounds.

I'm splitting my exposure across the moneyline and longer-fight markets. Makhachev to win is three units for me, while his decision prop at +135 fits Garry's six-fight decision streak. My favorite play is Makhachev to win and Round 3 to start at -155. It only asks Garry to survive 10 minutes, and a later Makhachev finish still cashes.
