Letβs dive into our Alex Pereira vs. Ciryl Gane prediction and UFC Freedom 250 betting preview for tonight's card. Gane is a slight -105 betting favorite to beat Pereira on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington. The two meet for the vacant interim heavyweight title in the co-main event, which airs live on Paramount+ with the main card starting at 8 p.m. ET.
This is a tough one to call, and the near pick'em line tells you the books feel the same way. I lean Gane. Pereira built his run at middleweight and light heavyweight on fast, explosive power, and I think he arrives a step slower at heavyweight against a bigger man who can absorb a shot and keep moving.

π° Alex Pereira vs. Ciryl Gane best bet: Under 2.5 rounds (+130)
Heavyweight title fights get five rounds, but they rarely use them. Pereira carries one-shot power in either hand, and Gane has six knockouts of his own and the speed to crack a slower Pereira early.
Put two finishers in four-ounce gloves at 265 pounds, and the math leans toward someone landing clean before the midpoint of Round 3. At +130, the book is pricing the long night as the favorite. I don't buy it. The under 2.5 is my best bet. One unit.

Pereira's plan never changes, and it doesn't need to. He wants to walk you down, dig the left hook to the body, and set up the left high kick or the counter that has ended so many of his nights. The power comes with him to heavyweight. The question is whether it lands as clean on a 6-foot-5 mover who has shared the cage with Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou and never been knocked out.
Gane's path is the one I trust more. He has spent close to six years swimming with the best of this division, fighting for a belt five times, and staying in the mix the whole way. His boxing is crisp, and his footwork is rare for a man this size, and he can bank rounds without taking much back. He is not always the flashiest or the most decisive, and that is the knock on him. If he wants to manage range for 25 minutes, he can.
The one thing Gane has to respect is the leg kick. Pereira chops at the lead leg as well as anyone in the sport, and a few early can change how a mover wants to plant and fire. If Gane stays just outside the pocket and makes Pereira reach for everything, I think he gets the win, hence my moneyline bet on him (-105 at BetMGM).
Prediction: Gane to win (-105 via BetMGM)
π‘ How I'm handicapping Alex Pereira vs. Ciryl Gane
I keep coming back to the size and the speed. Pereira has been the most dangerous striker in the building at 185 and 205, and a lot of that came from being the faster, sharper man who lands first. At heavyweight, he is giving up reach, and the men up here can eat a clean shot and stay upright in a way his old opponents could not. His power makes the jump with him. The trouble is that he is now the one walking into bigger fists.
Gane is the safer side of a coin flip for me. Six years near the top of the heavyweight division counts for something, and he has tested himself against the very best while staying durable. He is not flawless. He can drift into cruise control and let a fight go quiet, and the leg kicks become a real problem if he gets careless with his stance. Still, length and clean boxing are a tough puzzle for a power striker who has to close distance to do his work.
So I land on Gane at a near pick'em, with a small flier on Gane by KO at +300 because a clean counter on a slower Pereira is squarely on the table.
