While dubbed a friendly, soccer matches between these two bitter rivals are anything but. I’m backing both teams to score while securing a share of the spoils in my United States vs. Mexico prediction.
The USMNT are the marginal +140 betting favorite as they look to beat Mexico for the first time in three meetings. Saturday’s tilt takes place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. (10 p.m. ET, TNT).

Both teams to score (-140)
The USMNT are scoring for fun at the moment, bagging eight goals in the previous two friendlies. Mauricio Pochettino’s men scored at least once in nine straight and 15 of the previous 16.
The squad is full of energy, relentless in their pursuit of possession. They also play a fearless, risk-forward brand of football that can be vulnerable to conceding. The USMNT conceded at least one goal in 13 of the previous 15 matches.
Meanwhile, Mexico scored and conceded at least once in three straight matches.
Score prediction: USA 1, Mexico 1

Tie (+240)
Mexico won the previous two matches against the United States, but Pochettino’s men are in better current form, winning the last two friendlies by a combined 8-3.
The USMNT smashed an inferior Peru side 4-1 at home, while Mexico only managed a 1-1 draw against them, albeit at a neutral venue in New Jersey.
Mexico have most of their conventional squad available for the match, which differs from the United States, whose roster is comprised mostly of players from the Under-25 program.
That youthful energy will cause Mexico some issues, but El Tri’s experience advantage should level the playing field.
