The Maple Leafs host the Sabres as the early NHL game on Wednesday, as we offer our best Sabres vs. Maple Leafs NHL player props based on the top NHL odds.

After losing by three goals to the Boston Bruins on Monday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs are looking for a bounce-back effort Wednesday as they host the Buffalo Sabres. Those two face off at 7 p.m. ET on TNT.

The Sabres are coming off a three-goal loss of their own, falling 5-2 to the Jets on Sunday. Which of these two teams will recover with a win on Wednesday - and, more importantly, who will help them do it?

Auston Matthews anytime goal (-125 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Auston Matthews is on pace for a historic season with 53 goals in 60 games thus far. However, he’s gone a bit cold in the past two weeks, with just one goal in his last five games.

It hasn’t been for a lack of trying, though, as Matthews has tallied 19 shots in those contests, including five during a pointless effort against the Bruins.

Matthews has been thriving when playing against the Sabres recently. He’s scored in three straight meetings (two in 2023-24), including a hat trick against Buffalo at home back in November.

We’re getting some favorable odds here for Matthews to score at -125 via DraftKings, with his price as high as -157 via betPARX to find the back of the net.

Ilya Samsonov Over 2.5 goals against (-120 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Maple Leafs have been struggling defensively all season, and the Sabres have been able to exploit that during recent meetings. The Sabres earned two wins over Toronto earlier in 2023-24, and the contests ended with a combined score of 15-7.

Ilya Samsonov has been enduring more downs than ups in 2023-2024. He’s 15-5-6 overall with a 3.23 GAA and .883 SV%. He’s allowed three-plus goals in four straight starts, and in seven of nine outings since the All-Star break. Overall, Samsonov has allowed Over 2.5 goals in 18 of 28 matchups this season.

The Sabres recently put up seven goals against the Vegas Golden Knighs and three when facing the Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes. They should be able to register at least three on Wednesday in Toronto.

Bobby McMann Over 2.5 shots on goal (+168 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

Maple Leafs winger Bobby McMann has been emerging out of nowhere over the past few weeks. He's notched 10 points (seven goals) and 37 shots over his last 11 games, starting with a hat trick against the Blues. 

McMann hasn’t been able to get on the scoresheet recently, but he's been firing a ton of pucks on the net. The center has recorded 14 shots on goal in his last three games, and McCann has gone Over 2.5 shots in five of his last six contests.
