NHL Predictions Today: Odds, Picks & Best Bets for Thursday (Oct. 29)
Last Updated: October 29, 2026 12:18 PM EDT • 3 minute read Google News Link
My NHL predictions today target three best bets from Thursday's 11-game slate, headlined by a player prop featuring Hurricanes forward Logan Stankoven.
I'm also backing an Over/Under play, as well as an Eastern Conference club to win straight up on the road in California.

NHL best bet today
Logan Stankoven Over 2.5 shots on goal (+115 via BetMGM)
Logan Stankoven has emerged as one of the leading shooters for the defending Stanley Cup champions. He's tied for the Hurricanes' team lead in shots on goal and has been on a heater of late. Stankoven has totaled Over 2.5 SOGs in five of his last six games.
The Blue Jackets won't be able to hang tonight with Carolina, which ranks No. 1 in the NHL in shot attempts percentage (Corsi %), per MoneyPuck. That means Stankoven will have plenty of opportunities to get pucks on net while his team controls the pace of play.
There is tremendous value at plus-money on Stankoven to finish with at least three shots. I bet a full unit at BetMGM's +115 odds.
Play to: -110. Pass at 3.5 shots on goal.

Jets vs. Lightning Under 6 (-110 via FanDuel)
The vibes were great in Winnipeg when the Jets were winning early on without Connor Hellebuyck. But the offense has dried up considerably since. The Jets are averaging 1.6 goals per game during their current six-game losing streak.
Winnipeg has a 9-3 record to the Under this season, entering Thursday with five straight Unders. A road date in Tampa against the Lightning’s Andrei Vasilevskiy won’t help matters.
Even if Tampa wins by multiple goals, I don’t see these teams combining for more than six. While some of our best sports betting sites offer a 5.5 total, I bet Under 6 at FanDuel’s -110 odds.
Play to: -118, pass at 5.5.

Senators ML (-118 via FanDuel)
The Kings and Senators are priced at near-even odds to win on Thursday. I’m not sure any Kings game should be priced as a toss-up against any opponent right now, even in Los Angeles.
The Kings are 0-3 at home this season. Their abysmal offense scored only three total goals across those three home losses.
L.A. is consistently outscored at even strength specifically, ranking bottom-10 in five-on-five goal differential. Meanwhile, the visiting Senators rank 10th-best in that category. I love the odds on offer for Ottawa to pick up a road win tonight, which I bet at FanDuel's -118 value.
Play to: Senators -122.
