The Kansas Jayhawks return home after a successful road trip to face the Oklahoma Sooners. Read on for our Oklahoma-Kansas pick and prediction.

No. 2 Kansas wasn’t crowned the new top-ranked team in Monday’s AP Poll, but the Jayhawks (14-1, 3-0 Big 12) are playing as well as anyone right now. They've won eight straight and are coming off back-to-back road victories over Texas Tech and West Virginia.

There are no layups in the Big 12, but a home meeting with Oklahoma (10-5, 1-2) is as close as it gets. The Sooners are fresh off a 68-63 overtime win in Lubbock, but they'll be a big underdog for Tuesday's test inside the Allen Fieldhouse.

Here's our best Oklahoma-Kansas college basketball pick (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Oklahoma vs. Kansas Odds Analysis

Kansas opened as a 9.5-point favorite, but the line has jumped up to between 10.5 and 11.5. KU is 7-8 against the spread in 2022-23, while Oklahoma has posted an 8-7 ATS clip. The Sooners are getting 11.5 at PointsBet, while those wishing to lay the points should do so with the 10.5-line at DraftKings.

The total dropped from 135 to 133.5 overnight, which is the lowest for a Kansas game since its matchup against Tennessee. The Jayhawks are 9-6 to the Over this season, but the Sooners are 6-9 and rank 345th in the country in adjusted tempo.

Oklahoma vs. Kansas Pick

Oklahoma +10.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a tough one, because my projections show a bit of value on both the underdog and the Over. Ultimately, I settled on taking the points with Oklahoma since my numbers make Kansas closer to an 8.5-point favorite in this home matchup.

There are reasons to take Porter Moser’s squad as a double-digit underdog here beyond Oklahoma's slow pace. The Sooners rank 10th in the country in effective field-goal percentage (56.3%), making the most of the shots they do take. Oklahoma is also sixth in defensive 3-point percentage (26.9%), and Kansas has knocked down 11 3-pointers in each of its last three outings.

Furthermore, the Big 12 figures to be a gauntlet, with all 10 teams ranked in the top 60 of the NET. The average margin of victory through 15 conference games is just six points. The margin in seven league games has been three points or fewer, with only four contests featuring double-digit gaps.

It might be best to take any sizable underdog in a Big 12 matchup this campaign, but especially one with a low total that could be played at a slower pace. Considering Kansas is coming off two huge road wins, it also wouldn’t be surprising to see a letdown performance from the Jayhawks and a six- or seven-point win. It doesn’t hurt that the Jayhawks have failed to cover during their last two outings as a double-digit underdog, both of which took place at home.

PointsBet is currently the only major sportsbook hanging an off-market number of 11.5, though it's juiced to -125. While Unabated’s line calculator confirmed the higher line wasn’t worth the vig, I didn’t even really need to use it in this case. I feel confident enough in this pick to take the 10.5.

You can get that number at the rest of our top-rated sportsbooks right now. BetMGM was hanging a spread of 11.5 (-115) and Caesars was sitting at 11 early Tuesday morning. But neither of those lines lasted wrong. More evidence that the underdog is likely the right side ahead of tipoff.
