Road underdogs are providing value ahead of Monday’s eight-game NBA slate. Read on for our NBA picks and best bets for Monday.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have done a complete turnaround from a season ago, and they’re actually favorites on Monday against the New York Knicks.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors are big underdogs on the road, but can we ever truly count out Steph Curry when he’s cooking? Finally, we’re betting against the Los Angeles Clippers, as has been a regular occurrence.

Here are our best bets for Monday’s NBA slate (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook and PointsBet; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Monday’s NBA Top Picks

Moneyline: Thunder (-125) ★★★★

The Thunder are favored at home for just the second time in 2022-23, and they’ll look to improve to 2-0 against the spread on Monday when facing the Knicks. New York is playing its fifth straight road game, while the Thunder will be home for the first time in 10 days.

Oklahoma City has covered in four of its last five games, and the Knicks are 2-3 during that span. New York lost its first matchup against the Thunder in 2022-23 this past week in a high-scoring 145-135 tilt at Madison Square Garden. Take them to hand the Knicks their third straight loss.

Spread: Jazz +3.5 (-110)★★★★★

The Utah Jazz are 7-2 as the road underdog, while the Los Angeles Clippers are just 2-5 as the home favorite. The Clippers continue to win games, but they’ve only defeated two teams with a winning record (the Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers), with eight of their victories coming against bottom-feeders like the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kawhi Leonard hasn't looked great in two games back from a knee injury, and Paul George is questionable after suffering a knee injury of his own Saturday. Back Utah even with Mike Conley (knee) out, as the Jazz have been the better team this season.

Total: Trail Blazers-Bucks Under 215 (-105) ★★★★★

The Portland Trail Blazers and Milwaukee Bucks have been quality Under teams, and now they're facing each other.

Milwaukee is 4-5 at home, and Portland is just 2-6 on the road. Damian Lillard will be out for this one. Portland can still put up points, but don't bet on the Blazers crushing it offensively against the Bucks’ defense, which is allowing the second-fewest points per game to opponents at home (104.3). That’s the same average Portland allows on the road, which is the fewest in the Association.

Target PointsBet for spread and total bets, because the lines there typically feature less juice at -107 or longer. FanDuel and DraftKings offer this total a half point lower at -110 odds, so PointsBet offers better value.

Upset: Warriors (+198) ★★★★★

Golden State started the season 0-8 on the road, but the Dubs won their first game away from the Chase Center on Sunday with a victory in Houston. The team is now 3-1 across its last four contests.

Golden State played competitively when these teams last met on Nov. 4, despite Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green all being out of action. The 5.5-point line in favor of New Orleans is likely rooted in fear from oddsmakers that the Warriors will rest their starters during the second game of a back-to-back set. But take the Warriors with the team finally picking up some momentum, and hope that Steve Kerr keeps his top guys out there so the squad remains hot.

Prop bet: Haliburton Over 31.5 points + assists (+100) ★★★★★

Haliburton’s points and assists prop is set at 30.5 on FanDuel and DraftKings for -120 and -125 odds respectively, but we can do better. After a little shopping, we can find that prop just one point higher at plus-money odds.

The guard has produced at least 31 combined points and assists in 10 of his 15 games in 2022-23. If we bump that up to 32 for better odds, Haliburton has still cashed that prop nine times. He balled out with 22 points and 14 dimes during Saturday’s close win over the Magic. Go back to the well for Monday’s rematch.
