Zheng's improbable three-set victory over the women's World No. 1 secured her place in Saturday's 2024 Olympic final against Croatia's Donna Vekic, who ousted American Coco Gauff in the third round and has dropped just one set in five matches.

Zheng was pushed to the brink in the third round against Emma Navarro and in the quarterfinals versus Angelique Kerber, both matches going three sets. She then had to overcome the world's best clay-court player, Swiatek, in the semifinal, which she did in a tightly contested two-set tilt.
Vekic is inarguably the fresher of the two, conceding just one set thus far. While increased wear and tear can significantly impact the final, I still feel Zheng's monstrous efforts in the last three matches, especially in the semifinal, will prove decisive.
She must be soaring with confidence after defeating the winner of the last three French Opens. Zheng has also been the superior clay-court player, at least recently.
