Dylan Cease looks to keep his stellar summer going against the Texas Rangers on Friday night. Read on for our White Sox-Rangers MLB picks.

The Chicago White Sox are struggling a bit overall this season at 53-52, but they’re finally getting healthy and have their ace on the mound tonight. They won four of five games before Thursday night’s series-opening loss in Texas.

The Texas Rangers victory last night got them up to 47-58 on the season after being swept by the Baltimore Orioles.

Here are my MLB picks and predictions for Friday’s game between the White Sox and the Rangers (odds via BetRiversDraftKings Sportsbook, and FanDuel Sportsbook).

White Sox vs. Rangers Odds Analysis

Action has poured in on the White Sox, moving them from -175 at opening to between -180 at DraftKings and -196 at FanDuel. The Rangers are as high as +164 at FanDuel after opening at +145.

The White Sox are +100 on the -1.5 run line at DraftKings with the Rangers +1.5 (-110) via FanDuel.

The total hasn’t moved as much, however. It opened at eight and has moved to 7.5 at some books. You can get Over 8 at+100 at Caesars and Under 8 (-118) via FanDuel. The Over is 7.5 (-117) via BetRivers and Under 7.5 (+100) via DraftKings.

White Sox vs. Rangers Projected Pitchers

Dylan Cease (11-4, 2.01 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) vs. Glenn Otto (4-7, 5.50 ERA, 1.46 WHIP)

Cease is on an incredible run for the White Sox. He’s allowed just four earned runs in his last 12 starts since May 29. He stuck out 90 batters in 70 innings in that span. The Sox are 10-2 in those 12 starts.

The Rangers have lost seven straight Otto starts with the righthander allowing three runs or more in six of those starts, including four or more in four outings since June 26.

White Sox vs. Rangers Run Line Pick

White Sox -1.5 (+100)

There is a huge pitching disparity in this game as mentioned above. The White Sox have won four straight Cease starts (and eight of nine) while the Rangers have lost seven straight Otto starts.

Team record isn’t always a great indicator of a pitcher’s success, but it largely has been for these two. Otto has allowed four runs or more in four of his seven starts, while Cease has allowed four earned runs total in his last 12.

The White Sox’ lineup is at full strength and they have their ace on the mound. I have full confidence in them on the moneyline, and I’ll take the +100 odds on -1.5 given that their last three wins were all by at least two runs. Perhaps more importantly, the Rangers’ last five losses were all by two runs or more.

White Sox vs. Rangers O/U Pick

Over 7.5 (-117)

Otto has a 7.39 ERA in seven home starts and a 5.50 ERA in 15 starts overall. He averages less than five innings per start, meaning that Texas’ bullpen and its 3.84 ERA (4.27 at home) will have to throw at least four innings. And it won’t be the Rangers’ best relievers, either, as they were used the last two games in close matchups.

The White Sox should put up a crooked number, possibly getting eight runs themselves, with the Rangers chipping in a few.

White Sox vs. Rangers Prop Pick

Cease over 7.5 strikeouts (-136)

White Sox pitcher Dylan Cease has been a strikeout machine this season. He has 161 strikeouts in 116 2/3 innings, including eight or more strikeouts in 14 of his 21 starts. Cease struck out 85 batters in 63 innings in June and July alone.

The Rangers have the ninth-highest strikeout rate in the league at 23.4%. Take Cease Over 7.5 strikeouts and possibly go up the ladder as well. He has nine or more strikeouts in seven of 21 starts, including 11 or more in four starts.
