A rivalry is continued when the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers play yet again in L.A. Can San Diego get to the L.A. bullpen? Find out in our Padres-Dodgers same-game parlay picks.

The Padres don’t have a prayer in the NL West race, but they’re locked in a heated wild-card battle. San Diego can put a scare into L.A. with a win on Sunday night, though, taking the first of three series these two will play down the stretch.

With a bullpen game upcoming for the Dodgers, will this one be attainable?

Here are my same-game parlay picks for Sunday’s matchup between the Padres and Dodgers (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Same-Game Parlay Predictions for Padres vs. Dodgers

Over 9.5 (-115)

The Over is my favorite way to play this game. While I recognize that the Dodgers’ bullpen is one of the best in baseball and the owner of a 3.05 ERA in the last two weeks, the Padres have been absolutely smoking the ball with a 113 wRC+ during the same period in time.

More than this, though, I want to fade Mike Clevinger. He owned a 3.94 ERA in the month of August with six starts lasting just 32 innings in total. He went six or more in two starts but was unable to go past five in the other four. For the season, his 4.12 xERA and elevated 37.7% hard-hit rate makes him someone who’s incredibly hard to trust.

He gave up a whopping five runs on seven hits to the Dodgers last month with two home runs on his line as well. I think both offenses should stay hot here.

Clevinger Under 4.5 strikeouts (-122)

Let’s keep it going with the negative Clevinger talk. The righty has gone over four strikeouts exactly once in five starts. Part of this is due to his ineffectiveness in getting swings and misses, but part of it is also the fact that he’s been so bad that he’s been unable to go deep into games.

The Dodgers have struck out in just 21% of at-bats in the last two weeks which is among the eight lowest marks in the league during that time. On top of this, their walk rate is a high 10% in this split and Clevinger is a guy with a walk rate of 9.4% for his career who has historically struggled to keep runners off base.

This should be a short outing for Clevinger.

Betts to record a hit (-240)

If you want to take a shot on an offensive prop here, it’s got to be Mookie Betts. In his last 10 starts, he’s slashing .342/.426/.927 with a hit in all but two of those games.

Against Clevinger, Betts is a career .600 hitter in 10 at-bats. The last time he faced Clevinger, early last month, he recorded three hits in five at-bats.

Betts is absolutely on fire right now and in a solid matchup against a bad pitcher.

Combined odds: Over 9.5 + Clevinger Under 4.5 strikeouts + Betts 1+ Hits = +269
