Masters Odds, Picks, Props & Matchup Best Bets: 5 Plus-Money Bets to Make for Augusta National
It's time for the "tradition unlike any other" as the first major of the 2023 golf season will be played this week at Augusta National Golf Course. Below, we'll wade through the odds and the various prop and outright markets for our Masters best bets.
The road to Augusta has delivered an 88-man Masters field, including eligible golfers from the LIV Golf Invitational Series, for the 2023 Masters Tournament. We've tracked the Masters odds from our best sportsbooks all year to prepare us for our Masters picks and predictions.
Among the names to watch, obviously, is Tiger Woods. In a league of his own, we're looking at Tiger Wood's Masters odds and offering our top picks for the five-time Masters champ. At age 47, does he have enough in the tank to push Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Jon Rahm as the consensus Masters favorites and top three golfers in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR)?
Read on for our Masters best bets from the outright, prop, and matchup markets (odds via DraftKings, PointsBet, and FanDuel; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).
Masters best bets
- Outright: Rory McIlroy (+700 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- First-round leader: Corey Conners (+4500 via PointsBet) ⭐⭐
- Prop: Tom Kim Top Debutant (+650 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Matchup: Cameron Smith (+140 via FanDuel) vs. Patrick Cantlay ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Tiger Woods: Over 3.5 birdies in Round 1 (+105 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Top Masters outright pick
Rory McIlroy (+700 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I've been betting on and re-investing in McIlroy to win the Masters for the better part of a year since the 2022 tournament ended and he finished as the runner-up to Scheffler. That finish was fueled by a Sunday 64.
After finishing no worse than eighth in last year's four majors, McIlroy won the Tour Championship to conclude the 2021-22 season. While he doesn't have a win yet in 2023, I'm extremely confident in his overall and well-rounded form for his return to Augusta National in another attempt at the career grand slam.

McIlroy leads the field in strokes gained: off-the-tee and SG: total over everyone's last 12 measured rounds. He's also gained strokes with the putter over that stretch. The same can't be said for top Masters contenders Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, Viktor Hovland, and Collin Morikawa.
McIlroy also said in Tuesday's press conference that he has been getting in plenty of practice at ANGC over the last few weeks. Be sure to get the best price in the market at DraftKings and be sure to use their best Masters odds boost. DraftKings' +300 odds surge can bring McIlroy's price up to +1000.
Top Masters first-round leader pick
Corey Conners (+4500 via PointsBet) ⭐⭐
Conners is a popular outright bet this week—especially among Canadian sports bettors—following his victory at the Valero Texas Open. While he has played well at Augusta National over his career, I'm still not interested in a common outright price of +5000 for the breakthrough major win.
I am, however, very interested in the +4500 for Conners to be the first-round leader. This is a near-consensus price across the market with FanDuel offering the lowest odds of +4000.
Conners is in a first- and second-round pairing with Dustin Johnson and Justin Rose, and will be teeing off at 1:12 p.m. ET on Thursday. That's when the warmest weather and lowest winds of the week are expected in Augusta, GA. Expect him to use his current form, course experience, and weather advantage to put together a strong opening 18 holes.
Top Masters prop pick
Top Debutant: Tom Kim (+650 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A five-star pick with +650 odds? Well, everything's relative, and in golf betting, this is about as good as it gets.
Kim not only debuts at Augusta National and the 2023 Masters as a two-time PGA Tour winner, but he somehow worked his way into a Monday practice group with McIlroy, Tiger, and Freddie Couples. If immersion is the best way to learn a new language or skill, consider Kim well-versed in Augusta National. He'll remain paired with McIlroy in Rounds 1 and 2, to boot.
Most importantly for making this bet is the destination. Kim is a consensus +400 in this group across our best sportsbooks with FanDuel being a wild outlier with the +650 offering. Furthermore, Kim is fourth in FanDuel's debutant group behind Sahith Theegala, Mito Pereira, and Kurt Kitayama. A trio that has combined for one (1) PGA Tour win. Lock this in as quickly as you can.
Top Masters matchup pick
Cameron Smith (+140 via FanDuel) vs. Patrick Cantlay ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is the only 2023 Masters bet I intend to make in favor of a LIV Series golfer. But you have to be kidding me with this line, FanDuel.
Smith, who's the reigning Champion Golfer of the Year and has four finishes of T-10 or better in his last five appearances in the Masters, is an incredible value. While he has slipped to No. 6 in the OWGR (two spots behind Cantlay) since leaving the PGA Tour late last summer, he has a win on the DP World Tour and a T-5 finish on the LIV Series in that time.
We don't have an accurate measure of Smith's current form or his motivation as a member of the rebel tour, but the +140 is more than enough motive for me to back him against Cantlay in the 72-hole matchup. Cantlay missed the cut in the 2021 Masters and tied for 39th last April.
Top Tiger Woods Masters pick
Over 3.5 birdies made in Round 1 (+105 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sportsbook Review betting analyst Neil Parker has been tracking Tiger Woods' Masters odds and is offering up his top picks for the five-time Masters champ this week. There are plenty of Masters odds boosts focused around Tiger as well.
But this straightforward Tiger special via DraftKings is my favorite way by which to get some action on the GOAT this week. Woods fired three birdies in an opening round of minus-1 at Augusta National last April. While that would have fallen a birdie shy of this Masters prop bet, he would've eclipsed this mark by one with his five birdies during the opening round of The Genesis Invitational in February. And that was played on the par-71 Riviera Country Club.
Tiger enters the 2023 Masters with an extra year of injury recovery from his return to competitive golf in the 2022 Masters and with well over a month of rest from his only tournament action of 2023. After he missed the cut in his expected final go-around of St Andrews in the 2022 Open Championship, expect this return to Augusta to mean a little more to Tiger.
