Minnesota vs. Indiana Prediction: Week 9 Odds, Picks & Best Bet (Oct. 31)
Last Updated: October 30, 2026 1:00 PM EDT • 3 minute read X Social Google News Link
My best Minnesota vs. Indiana prediction focuses on No. 4 Indiana's struggling offense. Starting quarterback Josh Hoover has not produced of late, and he threw for just 81 yards last week. His performance is a big part of the reason that Indiana's offense has had a difficult time putting points on the board. Will that change against Minnesota's defense?
Saturday's 3:30 p.m. ET game at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Ind., will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+. Indiana is favored by 20.5.

Minnesota +20.5 (-108 via DraftKings)
Indiana hasn't scored more than 20 points in three consecutive weeks, which makes me curious why oddsmakers feel they can win this game by 21. While Minnesota got blown out at Purdue on Oct. 10, the Golden Gophers' 34th-ranked scoring defense held Iowa to 10 last week, as Minnesota pulled off the 13-10 win.
While Indiana is averaging 33.6 points per game, the fifth-most in the Big Ten, the Hoosiers haven't scored more than 29 points against any Power 4 team except for Rutgers. They also haven't beaten a Power 4 school other than Rutgers by more than seven points.
📡 SBR Edge: Minnesota's possession will be key
Though Minnesota's offense doesn't do much well, the Golden Gophers have consistently won the time-of-possession battle. Minnesota averages 32:13.29 of possession per game. That's the fourth-most in the Big Ten. Indiana averages just 28:33.13, which ranks 16th.
Hoover's struggles will continue against Minnesota
Hoover has not played up to expectations for most of this season, and last week was a new rock bottom for him. Against Michigan, he completed just eight of his 18 pass attempts for 81 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception. He's now completed 54.6% or less of his passes in three consecutive games.
Minnesota ranks third in the Big Ten in passing defense, allowing just 165.1 yards per game. Teams are also averaging just 6.2 yards per attempt against Minnesota, and the Golden Gophers have picked off seven passes while allowing just eight passing touchdowns.
While Indiana is averaging the fourth-most rushing yards in the Big Ten, Minnesota is holding opponents less than 125 rushing yards per game and just 3.81 yards per carry. Even if Indiana finds some success on the ground, the No. 4 team in the country will need some passing success to win by three touchdowns.
Play to: Minnesota +17.5
Score prediction: Indiana 23, Minnesota 10
