Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche are the overwhelming favorites to win the Conn Smythe Trophy at BetMGM.

The trophy is awarded to the most valuable player of his team during the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Typically, the player who wins is on the Stanley Cup team, and with the Avalanche overwhelming (+200) to win the Cup, it makes sense for both players to be favored.

The Avalanche swept the Nashville Predators in round one, and in the four games, Makar led the way with 10-points, and MacKinnon chipped in with 5-goals.

Further helping Makar and MacKinnon's bid is the absence of Auston Matthews now that the Toronto Maple Leafs are eliminated from playoff contention.

The Avalanche open the second round tonight against the St. Louis Blues as massive (-380) favorites to win the series.

Though they have fallen short in recent postseasons, they're poised to make a run and are anticipated to make quick work of the Blues - if this is the case, expect Makar and MacKinnon to lead the way.
