Irving led the Nets with 39 points in the opening game of the series, making 12-of-20 from the field, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range. He was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line.
Irving played for the Celtics in the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons and was the team’s leading scorer in both seasons. He signed with the Nets as a free agent in July of 2019, much to the dismay of Celtics fans and the reason for their dislike towards him.

Irving’s Nets are 3.5-point underdogs at Boston for game two of the series on Wednesday.
