If the line is moving that much, the public must be pounding Del Potro. Without getting into the "sharp" vs. "square" debate, the public is mostly and/or usually wrong.

So how are we able to tell if the line movement is cause by heavy public betting, or heavy betting by the sharps?
Because if the line movement is caused by sharp bets, the line would be moving against us, which is typically a bad sign , i would think.

I don't think you can tell... don't sharps usually bet right before the game starts or am i wrong?

Yep I think when you see the line move 1-2 hours before it closes it's sharps. I look into this more closely with basketball and football. A lot of people don't much stock into line movement on tennis. I just feel more comfortable sometimes when I'm on the opposite side of the general public. I read in another thread that something like 63% action was on JDP.

One of those is me. I'm glad I got on Delpo early at -125, public or no public this isn't a point spread game, there are no 'tennis sharps' in 'vegas' 'pounding lines' 'moving lines' etc etc etc. Just one guy against another, and everyone has their own angle. And JMDP's power + history is swaying a lot of people..

I like players that play with class. There was no reason to get into it with the umpire. It's not the umpire's fault you blew 6 break points. That's fine though. I don't mind see Del Potro unravel if it gives Ferrer the advantage.

Now do you understand when I pointed out about Ferrer's serve. It's very underrated by the public that dont follow him closely. He's hanging toe to toe in aces with Del Potro and even more importantly, his serve is solid and doesnt allow players to score winners off of it. Ask any of the top pros that fall victim to him and they'll attest to that. That's even more important than the aces/winners in a long grueling match. Comparing Ferrer's serve to Nishikori's is a joke.
