I'm highly doubting they play any more.

#422Exactly.Originally posted by DemonataWeather should not be an excuse when you are a good tennis player. Play in any weather and don't let it affect you. Not affecting Djokovic. He usually comes back in the 3rd set no matter what the weather is anyway or who he's playing.Comment -

#423Novak just does not lose confidence like Nadal does. Novak does not care how much he's down etc.Originally posted by Cheme82Agree. They are by far the best conditioned athletes in tennis right now. I meant it in general. Rafa is the best athlete in all his matches except when he's playing against Novak. I don't think either one has an advantage in that department.Comment -

#424Keep in mind though, Nadal was also complaining last year at the US Open about the weather. Him, Roddick and Murray went into the US Open ref's office together furious that they were forced to risk injury so the tournament could be broadcast on ESPN2. So while I think a big part of his frustration is because he lost the 3rd set, he's been concerned about playing in crappy conditions for awhile now.
"It's the same old story. All you think about is money," Nadal told Earley when the referee came out on Ashe to see if the court was playable. Nadal said this loud enough for the courtside mikes to pick up. By Nadal's standards, this amounted to a tirade.Comment -

#425Me neither, the dude is probably the toughest out in tennis. But as impresive as his last year and a half has been, Nadal's domination of this tournament has been more impressive and four times as long.Originally posted by DemonataI am never one to count Djokovic out. Nothing is set in stone Djokovic couldn't come back.Comment -

#426No worries, sorry that I got a little defensive when you accused me of being wrong. I just KNOW that I saw those lines an dgot a little irritated. I pulled an all nighter to see this match, so I'm a little (lot) grumpy.Originally posted by secretstashsince u never quoted a +ml and only a -ml I guess I have nothing else to go by.

As for the dog price, I was gonna say "wish I would have hit Djoker when he was ____" but don't remember at all what his price was. At the time, I was wanting to bet a little more on Nadal and was trying to get him at a decent price, so I was focusing solely on his line the whole time. I remember exactly what they were, but can't remember for the life of me what Djokovic's price was.Comment -

#429If Novak wins this, I'm afraid Nadal might be ****** for the rest of his career as far as winning majors if Novak stays around. Even if Rafa wins this, he still has a lot of work to do to get his confidence back against him.Originally posted by shari91Yeah I can only imagine Nadal's reaction when he heard they were going back out tonight. But as those guys said, even if they wait until tomorrow the court will still be heavy. Even though I'll lose my ML bets, I really hope Nadal can still pull this off. If he loses this match after being up 2-0 I think it'll royally gut him. Just so scary when Djokovic gets that come back going.Comment -

#453Nadal will win now. Djokovic was winning cus the clay was wet, he had momentum, found his rhythm, and Nadal was fading. Now, all of those factors are gone. Now it's like we're starting over at set 1, game 1. We all saw how the first 2 sets went...
I'm gonna get up in time for the match tomorrow and live bet Nadal at -200 as soon as live betting is available.Comment -

#454Of course it is a factor, even if you are a great player. The weather changed everything that makes this a strong surface for Nadal, it made it play more like a surface where Novak is a better player. Of course it will not affect Novak negatively, that is a huge help he's getting.Originally posted by DemonataWeather should not be an excuse when you are a good tennis player. Play in any weather and don't let it affect you. Not affecting Djokovic. He usually comes back in the 3rd set no matter what the weather is anyway or who he's playing.
About 8 months ago I was playing a semi-final match on a hard court against a huge hard-hitting player with a lot of top spin. I was getting whooped, he won the first set 6-2 and had me down 3-0 in the middle of the second set when it started to rain and we kept playing. He was up 5-1 and the court was now soaked, it wasn't raining anymore but the court was too wet to play. I asked him if he wanted to finish the next day and he refused to stop. At that point I was more concerned with safety than anything else, the guy was obviously playing way better than me and I was minutes away from being done. I knew he thought he was almost done with me and didn't want to return the next day just to win a game so he was willing to risk injury on either one of us just so he wouldn't have to come out the next day.
That kind of pissed me off so I started taking advantage of the conditions. Hard-hitting players love pace and hate spin (except for top-spin). So I started slicing like a mofo, throwing him backspin shots, moonballs, etc. His shots weren't as penetrating as before because the balls were heavy and the court was playing slow. My slice, on the other hand, was hydroplaning. The pace was much slower now and the ball was staying really low, way lower than his wheelhouse. The guy started getting pissed but his pride wouldn't allow him to call the match and come back the next day to finish me off on a dry court. Of course I wasn't going to say anything about the water, I had given him a chance and he refused so unless he said something I was going to play through the puddles. You guys know the rest, I came back and beat the guy in 3 sets. He broke his racket but shook hands with me with both of us knowing that the only reason I was moving on was the rain coupled with his bad decision making.
Whether at the local courts, the club level, or at the pro level. Wind, rain, cold, hot, it all affects the game. For some players positively, for others not so much.Comment -

#455That makes no sense. It's not that Novak has trained to play in these conditions, it's that the conditions make the court play more like a court in which Novak is superior, and negate all the characteristics that make Clay Rafa's house.Originally posted by DemonataWell than Nadal needs to train to be able to play in any weather conditions than since Djokovic clearly has.
It's like taking home court advantage from a team and claiming it shouldn't matter because they should train to win on the road as well.Comment
