#37She started poorly down 4-0. Lost 6-3 in the 1st. Makarova has to win points on her second serve or she has no chance. Her first serve has been plenty good enough stats wise. Stosur is killing her though on 2nd serves.
I do think Tsonga actually might be a nice play now. Price dropped to -140.Comment -

#53Today should serve as a reminder guys to the rule I adhere to & one I highly suggest for TENNIS - NEVER bet favorites of -200 or more in a single tennis match. PARLAY some of them if you like, but betting a single match fave over -200 can lead to blood baths like today.
Fernando Gonzalez, Tommy Robredo, Richard Gasquet - all were HEAVY favorites and lost. Roddick in trouble in the first set.Comment -

#54Stosur is comfortable on hard courts, the Aussie is used to practicing on them and as such sometimes she'll snatch wins where you wouldn't necessarily feel she'd have much of an edge.Comment -

#55Yeah she was superb. Like I said, I should have stuck to my one bullet yesterday and fired off with just the parlay of the 3 ladies I liked that did wind up winning. With the loss from the Stosur match though, I only made a few bucks.
A testament to trusting your research. I think everyone needs to be reminded on occassion that it's okay not to make a play if there is no great edge.

Kirilenko -130 vs. Kanepi
Should be a good one here. Kanepi has been real hot going back to last week, but a closer look at some of her matches leads me to believe Kirilenko is the play here. Kanepi has bouts where double faults get the best of her & there can be some inconsistency with her serve. She gets an amazing amount of points off her first serve, even though the percentage at times dips into the 50s or lower as was the case in all three matches here. To me, when she runs into an opponent with a good return game - that could hurt her. Kirilenko has been far more steady in this tournament with both the 1st & 2nd serve and I think that bodes well for this one & I think if Kanepi hadn't made her run last week in Tokyo, Kirilenko would probably be a much larger favorite. Kirilenko won the only career meeting back in Auckland in December 2007 (3 sets) on a hard court that was a little slower that this one & probably favored Kanepi a little more. Won't be surprised to see this one go 3 sets.Comment -

#63Tsonga was dominate against Monfils. A quick match like that might make him worth a look against Djokovic because fatigue would be my main concern with Tsonga still working his way back to match shape. No way Djokovic should be that large a favorite against Tsonga though. I'd say no play or small on Tsonga.
Tsonga played him tough at the Aussie Open, so he shouldn't have any nerves.Comment -

#64I'm considering to put a little money in Sela. Roddick was struggling in his last two, against Phau he won the tiebreak after he trailed a set. Sela, on the other hand, surprised my predictions, winning against Devilder, Ferrer, Robredo and Schüttler all in straight. +400 seems to me a very good price for his performance.
Eagles, after your post, I looked up the odds and +300 really surprises me. Thanks for the tipp, I put a little bit on Tsonga.
Btw, insane how accurate your thoughts always are, the prediction on the three-set-match between Kirilenko & Kanepi is justComment -

#65Good luck on Tsonga. Depending on how my day goes in football, I may join you on a small play. Even if I don't play it, I hope he beats Djokovic. That dude really became less of a favorite of mine with his behavior at the US Open.

Stosur +105 vs. Kirilenko
Stosur continues to impress in Seoul. She doesn't sport an impressive 1st serve percentage, but yet wins almost 71% of the points off her 1st serve. Her 2nd serve has been killer here in Korea. Stosur has won at least 50% of her points off of her 2nd serve & in 3 of her 4 matches, close to or eclipsing 70%! Kirilenko has done well in Seoul to get her season back on-track. She worked hard to defeat Kanepi in three sets & has had her serve popping as well. Kirilenko has been so solid with her 1st serve staying right at 79% all week. Stosur leads the head-2-head match-ups 2-1 all-time, but I don't read much off those as the last came at the French in 2007 other than Stosur should not have any nerves being in the final here. I think this match is won-or-lost on the 2nd serve. Both ladies do such a fine job of getting points on their 1st serve that the one who does better on 2nd serve should get the trophy here. That was the case with their meeting at the French & it has been the kiss of death in Kirilenko's last two losses with 2nd serve percentages in the low 30s to mid 20s. If that happens tonight & Stosur continues her steady play on her 2nd serve, the Aussie should prevail in a hard fought match.Comment -

Kuznetsova +115 vs. Jankovic
Kuznetsova has really found herself in Beijing. She made a nice run to the final in Tokyo last week, but was fairly sloppy with her serve in doing so. This week, she's fixed whatever issues she had with double faulting & her serve has been steady with the match against Zheng proving to be her best at over 70% on 1st serve and winning 61% of the points there 54% on 2nd serve. The Russian should have plenty of confidence after beating Jankovic just last week & 4 of 5 times on hard courts, including two times in 2008. Jankovic's serve has been her undoing against Kuznetsova in the past. 8 double faults last week & second serve percentages in the 30s which you just can't do if you're busy double faulting points away. That monster flashed in the Zvonareva match with 6 doubles, but she fought through. Doesn't hurt that Kuznetsova has won this tournament in '04 & '06 either, so she loves it here. This will be another three set classic I believe and if Kuznetsova can stay consistent with her serve as she has done this week, I like her to squeak out the win.Comment -

#67Stosur crushed Kirilenko in the first set with her first serve. 93% points & 4 aces, pretty impressive.
Now 1-1 in sets.
Stosur down a break.
Down two breaks now.
Regained a break, now serving against the match at 3-5.
Game, set & match for Kirilenko. 2-6 6-1 6-4.
