#8822Originally posted by shari91Yeah, you lucky bugger!! Someone told me that Raonic won the first set so then when I could, I turned the match on tv. Bad mistake.
Books hung a sharp line there.
Glad that all of you guys won on the over. It seems that the smarter play/better value was actually in taking >3.5 sets which was at -110 also.
If you do the math there aren´t too many ways that a win in 3 sets is going to deliver a 36 game over... whereas you just need one blow out set in a four setter to deliver an unders total.
Just a thought!Comment -

#8825Yeah, it definitely makes sense. But that option isn't offered at either of the books I'm using right now. I would love if it were though as there have been a few times in this tournament where I was pretty convinced the match would go longer than 3 sets but I couldn't trust the players to keep the scoreline close so I stayed away. Perfect example was the Dolgo match. He always seems to have at least one set where he either wins 6-0 or 6-1 or loses a set with that score, which is terrible when you're on the over.Originally posted by brandocGlad that all of you guys won on the over. #8826The only future I have right now is Li but if I were to look at the men, I'd probably go with Djoko or Murray depending on their prices. I don't think Nadal is going to win for some reason and I haven't looked at the price but I assume Fed is quite short.Originally posted by blackbeSStshari you got anything on a mens winner future?Comment -

#8827Andy Murray is another good example. He's developped a habit of tanking a set after conceding an early break. Especially, if this is the second set and he has just won the first. The scenario usually is this: give up a break, stop moving, serve a double fault, get broken again, start walking around the court (rather than walking quickly or god forbid running), turn it on at the beginning of set 3.Originally posted by shari91Yeah, it definitely makes sense. #8830Na/Djokovich parlay here paying about -110.
I also like the Na/Petko game to go over, but tennis totals are pretty random IMO. never know when someone is going to tank a set or have a 10 min brain snap.Comment -

#8833Today's headline about the game in our local newspapers says: "Suisses, copains mais pas amis". I've read that you are from Canada so you might understand this, since I don't know how to express in english the difference between "copains" and "amis". Here in Switzerland we make the distinction between those two words, and yes they're friends but not close friends.Originally posted by shari91
Swiss - the best friends info was from a mate of mine who is a coach on the tour. But I probably exaggerated a bit - he said Stan is as close of a friend as Roger has as he doesn't have many male buddies. Regardless, after I lived in Switzerland, I became rather fond of Wawrinka so I hope he does well against Fed. Thanks for the post.
Stan says they only talk if they have something to say to each other or in the locher-room, but they're not close enough to make fun of each other or things like that. Stan's best friend on the tour is probably Monfils he says.
Roger says he doesn't know Stan as much as Chiudinelli or Lammer, other swiss-german players, because they didn't grow up together when they were younger.
So I think Federer is going to be ready for it, better and more focused than his last game. If he's near his top it will be a 3 or 4 sets victory for Roger even with Wawrinka's huge improvement. But I could be wrong and I wouldn't mind ;-)
By the way shari, I'm a very curious person so I can't help myself.. Were you in the french-speaking or swiss-german-speaking part of Switzerland? Did you live here for a few months? Did you like it? As for myself, I live between Bern and Lausanne in a small city!
You also said you became fond of Wawrinka, you probably read about his separation with his wife a few weeks ago who gave birth to their baby just one year ago.. It made quite a shock here, but it didn't seem to affect his game in a bad way to say the least..Comment -

#8835I hope not - I took Djokovic -5 this morning. As much crap as I've given Djoko over the years for being a headcase, something has happened to him recently. I'm starting to think of him as the male Li. Always had mental issues but the pure talent was always there. I don't see how Berdych can trouble him too much but I've been wrong many times before!Originally posted by CoochiemudloBerdych no chance against Djokovich today?

#8840You should see some of my posts in here about her during the past 6 months. I LOVE her. Ever since the French Open she's been one of my absolute favorites, especially since you at least know when you back her she'll fight to the death. Woz said earlier this week that she thinks Franny is the most liked person on the Tour and I can see why. She seems hilarious in her interviews and never comes across as full of herself. Love her.Originally posted by kmarinouofmShari you know who has really won my heart is Schiavone

#8850seriously where is the competition this open?
i have never seen the top seeds dominate at a major tournament like this. federer destroyed wawrinka-who completely outclassed roddick-without breaking a sweat. nadal playing just so so and still murked cilic. melzer can't even take murray to one tie break?
murray and federer are scary good right now i don't think nadal can beat either. you can tell murray has been working on that backhand up the line for the last 2 monthsComment -

#8851Yeah, for once the tournament is basically going as the seeds suggested it would. Other than Sod losing, and let's be honest - that wasn't that big of a surprise, the top guys are killing everyone else. The gao between the top 4 and everyone else is getting larger it seems which sucks as a bettor. Not much chance of an upset when they show up at their top of their game like right now.
I hope that at least continues tonight and Djoko destroys Berdbrain or my account will be hurting a bit.
