There was one game where she was up 40-15 and needed to break back and she hit 4 returns in a row out/into the net with 2 of them being 2nd serves.

Garcia was good but Ivanovic was poor at the same time.

At least Garcia earned her spot this week. Last week she got a walkover and a retirement - maybe that was even the reason she was bad in he Final was lack of prep since she wound up not playing a round and only maybe half of the round prior.

Mayer is dealing with a so-called leg injury. Go figure at 4-1 in the 3rd. Souza came back against Berlocq and trying the same against Mayer. Souza isn't even playing that well, Mayer playing at a challenger type level. I think Mayer was up a break in all 3 sets and gave it back every single time.

They don't really have many other options. Guys lose all the time, goes to show that home advantage isn't something that is going to single handedly sway the tie for a country. I mean the only other guy you might think about is Schwartzman, but he's got I think little to no experience in DC.

The mayer/Souza match has been tight all match. Souza lost two tie breaks so it wasn't that a miraculous of comeback. Souza also has already beat Mayer in a tough 3 setter so didn't expect it to be a runaway.

Mayer was up a break in the 1st 3 sets and had to win 2 in a breaker and 3rd he choked all the way up 4-1. Mayer's nerves and pressure are making this tight. Mayer has come up small when its time to convert after the 2nd set.
