Sloane is tough to predict. When she opened up strong in the 3rd set, I thought she was going to cruise the rest of the way, but she's so fragile mentally that if she has a run of playing too well she gets lazy, and if she gets to far behind she gets reckless trying to take back the break on every point. I wish she was a little less talented so that she started learning composure wins matches earlier.Originally posted by charley365Comment -
i wish i followed it from the start, pennetta was backed 1.07 and must have gone out to 18 or more in-play.
i caught the third set sloane up 3-0, layed sloane at 1.18 and 1.24
Pretty happy with the outcome, ladies tennis is full of matches like this!

I don't dislike Pennetta, but Li is a HUGE step up in opponent quality (Townsend, Stosur, Giorgi, Stephens) that she can't handle. Lifetime, they're 2-2 vs each other, but Flavia's wins came in 2006 & 2010. Li's game has elevated significantly in the last 18 months since making the coaching change and I think their last match at the Aussie Open is a lot more indicative of how this is going to play out.Comment -
