Not surprisingly, Barcelona is another site where Rafael Nadal has been king. A nearly spotless 40-1 record in his career. Rafa has won the title in Barcelona eight times. Ferrer is the 2nd seed in Barcelona and is a four time Finalist here. He'll be looking to continue his resurgence after a nice run in Monte Carlo. The third seed is Fabio Fognini. Fognini is 0-4 in Barcelona and looked off last week in Monte Carlo.

Thiem vs. Stepanek [1st Round]
Thiem has a couple matches under his belt in qualis & Stepanek has lost his 1st match in Barcelona on his last two trips.
Cervantes vs. Nedovyesov [1st Round]
The Spaniard has been working mainly on the Futures circuit as he works his way back after missing most of 2013 due to injury. Cervantes has plenty of talent though. Prior to the injury, he looked like an up & comer on clay courts in 2012. Cervantes got a wildcard here, so I expect the effort in his home country and a possibility to re-establish himself.
Giraldo/Sijsling vs. Fognini [2nd Round]
Fognini did score a couple wins in Monte Carlo last week, but never looked quite right. He said differing things about a lack of energy at points in his 1st match and a lack of power in his legs. Couple that with his 0-4 mark here and he's got to be on upset alert. Giraldo would be the better shot to score the scalp.
Kuznetsov/Carreno-Busta vs. Cilic [2nd Round]
The Spaniard, Carreno-Busta, would provide the best shot here. He scored some nice wins in Monte Carlo last week with main draw wins against Dodig and Monfis. That followed up a quarterfinal run on Casablanca. Cilic has never played at Barcelona.
Montanes vs. Dolgopolov [2nd Round]
If Marc Lopez upsets Montanes in the opener, I'd reduce this to next to no chance that Dog loses his opener. Montanes though could give him trouble. Dog is 0-2 @ Barca.

No prices yet, but I don't think it's a stretch that these two will be in the Finals mix. I am expecting Rafa to be really focused after a poor match against Ferrer last week. Also with the knowledge that Djokovic may not be totally fit leading up to Roland Garros, he has the opportunity to put a strangehold on clay. If you're thinking of longer odds, I think the quarter with Robredo & Nishikori could offer a surprise Finalist. Both those guys have a genuine chance if they play their best.
