What I'm noticing Hardcoar is that Gombos has a shocking record against huge serves.

He won 6 return points against Muller two weeks ago (compared to 36 for Muller). Also smashed by Berrer and Panfil this month.

And last year every time he played Berrer, Sijsling or Lacko he was slaughtered.

There's an obvious enough pattern to suggest Gombos has a hard time dealing with the massive serves. Even Brown had 0-40 on Gombos' serve a few times actually, but then her played those famous "Mug-Brown) points.

Originally I was thinking about riding the value wave... but I'm taking Scheepers. The question is whether it's the cap or 2-0 in sets.

You seem to be confusing the term "value" with "high odds".

Haha yeah, was confused by Chanelle Scheepers there.

And nope, to quote myself I said "thinking about riding the value wave".

What am I referring to?

Well if you backed Gombos with a $100 at the start of the week and rolled it over in every match until now (the final), you'd have $21466.37.

And that's just 4 matches.

Hence "riding the value wave".

Don't worry about lecturing me I've done this successfully for years.

Anyway have gone with a Delbonis/De Schepper multi @ 1.92.

That doesn't necessarily mean the odds held value – it means they were high and happened to win.

I would argue they were value though, but that has no bearing on this match regardless.

De Scheppers odds plummeted before the match, anyone catch that? I laid off but that's who I was leaning before it happened.

He just had 0-40 to get back on the serve in 1st set... back to deuce.

On Betfair? Yeah I saw it. A heap of money all of a sudden can in for Gombos. I thought the same thing.. definitely suspect.

I was thinking surely he would want the winners prize money though.. and then checked.. and it's like 10K for the winner and 6K for the finalists. He could make 10 times that easily if he had any influence in even just some of the money that came in for Gombos right before the match.

Dude not all of us struggle with English in here lol.

Yes he said plummeting. But I assumed he was referring to Gombos and made a mistake. Reason being Gombos dropped from 3.65 to 2.95 on Betfair in the space of about 5 minuts just before the match started.

Unless he actually meant De Shepper. But that's definitely not what I saw.

Looking forward to opposing De Shepper on non IHC tournaments this season. He's ranked 84 in the world and will no doubt be a huge favourite in many losable matches.

Honestly I'm struggling to recall the last time someone this bad was ranked in the top 85.
