#85ESB and they paid me like 4% interest on my balance every 30 days. In fact, those Jamaica accents were so tuff/bad on the phone--its the reason I went and bought my first computer when they said they were going to be offering wagering online. Eliminated me hearing "I sorry mon, these line has no more!!" I was gone from there to better quality places long before they stiffed everyone. Pure luck there for me.
Have to also add, since I am tripping down memory lane, there college lines were often 4 to 5 points different than the vegas line. It was really a dream come true.Comment -

#93Back around 1996-1997 or so, global sports connection. Does anyone remember them? maybe called GSC as well?
Internet wasn't big around then, but i know there was a site called bettorsworld.com back then (just checked they've been around since 1995 - just a sports info site).
anyways a quick story about Global sports connection. they had some problmes with their software, and when a line changed odds, they kept multiple lines out there for same game by mistake, sometimes there would be 5 or 6 lines out there (some the same). people were parlaying one side for huge payouts. it was usually just 2 lines after a line change. they lost alot of money on that.
ETA: a quick search shows me that Betmaker.com bought them out at some point. Global Sports Connection was founded in 1996.Comment -

#95The year was 2000. The Y2K scare was over and people were looking for something else to be scared of. A young JohnnyC was tired of nitty IRL gamblers, he needed someone who really wanted to gamble.
Enter Intertops.
Posted up $50 on his mom's credit card and lost $45 of it in their black jack parlor. Went allin on a bruins total and went to sleep. Woke up the next morning - Account Balance: $10.54. A gambler was born.
Over the next few years young Johnny would have more downs then ups with this offshore book. Johnny was losing confidence in his handicapping until two interests collided to present an interesting opportunity. Big Brother and weekly eviction props. It is here where Johnny would finally get even with Intertops and start his sports betting roll.
Johnny still keeps money with Intertops, a reminder that this ais all supposed to be fun. I reminder of where it all began. And to always keep the door open to punish this book, a book that would have seized any chance to bust the young gambler.Comment -

#103I fukkin loved tradesports. Man I wish someone would fill that void. The other exchanges out there aren't quite the same.
(Sportsinteraction was my first book back in 2001 when Jim Kelly was their pitchman. Still with them, but now that I'm getting into MLB I see the need for better prices)

#104I had an account there, but I think they were phone only, not Internet. I was put there after E-Z Bets, also a phone only shop, was forced to close.
But my 1st Internet shops were SIA and Easybets, both on the same day. They were both "Irish owned" and sister books at the time, in 1997.Comment -
