Mostly just concerned today with getting the France win and nailing them to win the group, but also liked this one.

6.18.12 [Group D] England-Ukraine Total Corners Over 9.5 [-156]
Even though these two sides have not amassed many corners in the first two matches in this group, the circumstances today could lead to a bit better chance to rack up corners. England need just a draw to advance, although some theorize they could be out for goals today looking to secure the win & hope that France falter to win the group and avoid Spain in the QFs. I think first and foremost, they have to make sure they get there. I expect them to adopt a bit more of the absorption strategy at least early that they had against France - knowing Ukraine is likely to attack as they must win to advance. If England scores early, I expect this will certainly be the case for most of the remainder of the match which hopefully can lead to more corners as England defends a lead. And of course should Ukraine score, then we can expect an all-out assault by Rooney & Co. in search of an equalizer.

Had the same bet but, the over 10.5. The 1st half was scary with only 4 corners. Seems the tight games are the corner gaining games. Almost took the over corners in the French game, lucky i did not. France has been on fire with Corners.

Most of these matches as long as they get four by the half and there is at least one heavy attacking team, you always have a shot + of course how the match unfolds with goals, etc. France one I had no inclination to try. They got a lot of their corners in that first match against England when the Brits sat back and absorbed their attack for most of the match. They had a decent amount with six in the Ukraine match, but without really having to do anything against Sweden - I was definitely not touching that one + Sweden had barely any corners the first two matches.

Fully expect the Czech's to adopt an absorption strategy and look for counter attacks early. They want to keep this match as dull as possible and scoreless for as long as possible. Portugal meanwhile will look for the blitzkrieg if they can dominate early possession and go for the early strike. Czechs have "looked" stingy the last two matches against teams without 20% of the attacking talent on Portugal. I think this will be more like the Russian match where the more talented offensive club will have some early chances to get on the board.

I agree with you that Portugal match will be similar to the one vs Russia for the Czechs, but I'm worried that almost everyone is betting on Portugal to win today. Hopefully there won't be any fix like with Greece in 2004

Portugal been averaging 8 per game in group play, Czech's 5. Feel like 10 shouldn't be a reach. Layed off the over 9.5, juice too high.

Looks like I am hoping to get the 1st goal scorer to get something today. Few chances early, but Portugal started like shit and the Czechs had better chances. This is why it's always a bit dangerous to bet on Portugal.

I really want to pick the over 11 corners today! Greece should put up a big wall against the germans fierce full attack, blocking shots and clearing them out to corners alot. If we look at the last big attack wave at the greece wall led by the russians, it resulted in 12 corners for the attackers alone (17 total).

At a first glance it should hit easily. Am I missing something?

Neither team has put up much in the way of corners, but I'm riding this puppy until it craps out. If Germany can net a goal somewhat early, Greece will have to open up offensively, which in turn should create chances for Germany on the counter. Sounded good when I wrote it. Admittedly, Greece is not in the class of Portugal, Denmark or The Netherlands when it comes to attacking - but Germany lost the corners battle to all three teams in the group stages. Outside of the Russia match where the Greeks obviously were absorbing blow after blow as the Russians tried to level the match, they have done a solid job of keeping the corners low. Greece will have to come forward at some point in this match, so the hope is they can get a handful of corners as they have done in all but the Czech match and maybe have a chance to be equal with the Germans.I think for the big price, it is worth a roll as corners at the end of the day are still a total crapshoot.

Greeks claim there is a bias against them for cards being shown. Maybe, but that helps here. They have been shown nine yellows so far in three matches. If they keep this match tight and scoreless, there is also the factor of German frustration that could lead to cards to add to the toll. That is exactly what happened with Russia as the Russians accumulated four yellows after the 67th minute.

I expect France to start off with the old absorption strategy which will have this match set up in the vein of the Italy & Croatia matches for Spain. In those two, Spain grabbed 18 combined corners. I think the difference and the reason why I'm putting more on there being 13 or more corners is that France should be willing to attack more than Italy or Croatia as they have the personnel to trouble Spain's back line which has at times been shaky. France will need to keep from being frustrated about the amount of possession they will lack in this one - but I think if they take their chances when they can, that we will get plenty of corners.
