Surprising that Vestsjaelland did not score, last game they put up 5 by themselves and conceded 4 and they´ve played over 2.5 in 14 of 17 games total. Feeling a bit unlucky and it did not help that the other two games I chose between all won. But it happens, on too the next one.

Norway preseason friendly; Strømmen - Mjøndalen, Strømmen @ 2.00 (1x) Betsafe

I could not stay away from this one even tho its a friendly again. Strømmen is the better team and did great for a newcomer last season in Adeccoligaen. Mjøndalen finished a few places lower then Strømmen but did manage to win away when they met (1-2). Strømmen have improved their team while Mjøndalen have gotten weaker and today they have a few players missing as you can read on their official site. As this is the last friendly game before the league starts next weekend I think they will take it seriously.

I like Rosenborg to win by atleast two goals next weekend against Stabaek, -1, -1.5 @ 2.025 looks nice.

I'm not, I live in America but I'm a huge Rosenborg fan. I even subscribe to TV2 online to watch the Rosenborg games.

I'm a little worried about their back line. Larsen looked terrible last week but he's hardly trained with the team. Bjarsmyr just looked slow and pathetic. They also haven't found a proper replacement Annan.

Offensively they should be very good. I think Bakenga is the real deal. It's a good thing they're playing Stabaek next week who didn't even try on defense last week. But I like Rosenborg games to be very high scoring this year with the great offense and horrible back line (at least early in the year)

                                    Allsvenskan 2011 preview, part 1/3

                                    AIK

AIK had a turbulent season last year, marked by coach replacements and player changes throughout the summer. They finished in eleventh place which is surprisingly bad compared with the previous season when they won Allsvenskan. For this season the club assigned former AIK players Andreas Alm and Nebojsa Novakovic as coaches to get some stability again. A bunch of players has left the club and theres been few replacements, still the team is strong enough to finish somewhere in the middle. Martin Mutumba came back from Videoton which will strengthen the offense and along with the Bangura brothers they pose a threat to any defence. AIK has been an "under" team last couple of seasons, interestingly enough this year during the preseason 6 of 8 games went over. Lets see if this is a trend that will continue when the real league games begin.

                                    Last three preseason results:

                                    5 mars AIK 1 - 3 Orebro
                                    12 mars AIK 0 - 3 Kalmar FF
                                    27 mars AIK 5 - 1 Mariehamn

                                    My prediction:

                                    BK Hacken

BK Hacken finished at 8th place last year and I expect something similar this year. Not much has happened during the offseason, notable is that their second best scorer brazilian Paulinho had to leave the club. Dioh Williams has come in from Aarhus as a replacement, personally I find it hard to see him be as good. The man to rely on for goals is still Mathias Ranegie. The defence needs to improve for this season if they are to finish any higher.

                                    Last three preseason results:

                                    12 mars Tampa Bay Rowdies 1 - 1 Hacken
                                    22 mars Hacken 0 - 1 Ljungskile
                                    26 mars Malmo FF 1 - 2 Hacken

                                    My prediction:

                                    Djurgarden

Not much has happened in DIF during the offseason, Joel Riddez and Gale Agbossoumonde has been bought in an attempt to strengthen the defence. Sharbel Touma left for Syrianska which is a big blow to the midfield. Still DIF has potential with lots of young, hungry players. The big question mark in my mind is goalkeeper Pa Dembo Touray who is very irregular in his performances.

                                    Last three preseason results:

                                    15 mars Djurgarden 4 - 0 TPS Åbo
                                    23 mars Orebro 3 - 0 Djurgaren
                                    27 mars Norrkoping 1 - 0 Djurgarden

                                    My prediction:

                                    GAIS

Brazilian Alváro Santos signed a loan deal from Orgryte which is great news for all GAIS fans. He is a good signing, he has experience and is a capable goalscorer. Still, they should not hope for much this season. The defence is their strong point but they leave much to be desired in attack. To correct this they´ve signed Bassombeng, Santos and a few young players that might prove themselves to be useful. Many still have hopes for the possible return of striker Wanderson who currently plays for Al Ahli, if so GAIS offense gets a real boost.

                                    Last three preseason results:

                                    12 mars GAIS 0 - 1 Elfsborg
                                    15 mars Sporting Olhanense 1 - 2 GAIS
                                    27 mars Elfsborg 2 - 0 GAIS

                                    My prediction:

                                    Gefle IF

Gefle had to play a qualifying match against Sundsvall to remain in Allsvenskan, they won it and are in for another season. The club does not have the economy to have any high ambitions, but manages to perform better than people think. Important defender Omar Jawo left for Syrianska and Par Asp was bought from Brommapojkarna to fill the gap. The player to look out for is Jakob Orlov who scored 9 goals last year.

                                    Last three preseason results:

                                    9 mars Torpedo Vladimir 1 - 1 Gefle
                                    20 mars Gefle 2 - 2 Assyriska
                                    27 mars Gefle 4 - 0 GIF Sundsvall

                                    My prediction:

                                    Halmstad BK

Halmstad is kind of a dark horse this year, it all depends on how well the new players and coach work. HBK decided to go for a Spanish coach in Josep Clotet Ruiz, who in turn brought in a number of Spanish players. The problem is that Spanish players are not used to the prevailing climate in Sweden. During spring time, the pitches are in bad condition, muddy and such. Most players where brough in from Real Madrid CD which by itself holds promise.
In 2010, Halmstad finished in 12th place, this years preseason results have not impressed anyone but they got potential. Still, its hard to predict how good they really are.

                                    Last three preseason results:

                                    5 mars HBK 2 - 0 Orgryte
                                    24 mars HBK 1 - 2 Halmia
                                    27 mars Kalmar 0 - 1 HBK

                                    My prediction:

                                    To continue tomorrow...

                                        Part 3/3

                                        Kalmar FF

Kalmar FF has become progressively worse after their national championship in 2008, players like the Elm brothers have not been replaced properly. I dont think there is anything special about Kalmar that makes me think they´ve got a chance to be a top team. The brazilian players must perform and new player Fagercrantz can prove to be a great addition.

                                        Last three preseason results:

                                        23 mars Kalmar 1 - 0 Jönköpings Södra
                                        27 mars Kalmar 0 - 1 Halmstad

                                        My prediction:

                                        Malmo FF, winner Allsvenskan 2010

The team from last year is intact which means they have a good chance to repeat their gold winning performance. Lots and lots of talent within this team, they play the most entertaining soccer in the league. The big question is how long coach Roland Nilson stays, he is rumoured to become new coach for FC Copenhagen. And how many players will leave in the summer?
Not much more to say, the preseason results havent been so succesful but when they get their engine running, watch out!

                                        Last three preseason results:

                                        26 februari Brondby 1-0 Malmo
19 mars Malmo 1-2 Helsingborg (super cup)
                                        26 mars Malmo 1-2 Hacken

                                        My prediction:

                                        Mjallby AIF

Mjallby was last years surprise as they finished 6th as newcomers, strong defense and with strikers Ekenberg/El-Kabir took them far. Luckily for Mjallby all the important players has stayed and they´ve even improved the team with midfielder Pavel Zavadil from Orgryte, a player I like and think will be a great addition. The second year is usually the hardest for new teams, thats why I dont fancy them to finish as high as last year but they got potential.

                                        Last three presason results:

                                        13 mars Mjallby 0 - 2 Gefle
                                        19 mars Mjallby 0 - 0 GIF Sundsvall
                                        26 mars Mjallby 2 - 1 Atvidaberg

                                        My prediction:

                                        Syrianska

Second newcomer in Allsvenskan 2011, Syrianska won Superettan 2010 and are looking to stay clear of regulation this season. The new acquisitions look interesting, especially the defense and midfield will be strong. In midfield Touma - Barsom - Arneng are the stars of this team and really important for the success of the whole team. It would not hurt to bring in another striker, I think they rely to much on Peter Ijeh.

                                        Last three preseason results:

                                        12 februari Syrianska 1 - 0 Mariehamn
                                        19 februari AIK 0 - 2 Syrianska
                                        28 februari Syrianska 1 - 1 Gif Sundsvall

                                        My prediction:

                                        Trelleborgs FF

TFF surprisingly finished in 5th place 2010, for this season they´ve already lost a vital part in Andreas Drugge. His offense will be missed and the question is how well they will do without him. Coach Tom Prahl have ensured to bring in a couple of players to broaden the squad to ensure that they finish just as high this season. Goalkeeper Viktor Norling is one of the best in Allsvenskan and plays a vital part for his teams success.

                                        Last three preseason results:

                                        5 mars Trelleborg 0 - 1 Kalmar
                                        20 mars Trelleborg 2 - 0 Angelholm
                                        25 mars Aalborg 1 - 2 Trelleborg

                                        My prediction:

                                        Orebro SK

Orebro had a great season in 2010 and finished in third place, so for this season expectations are high. OSK has recruited healthy, lots of new faces came in and some old ones left. Biggest changes have occurred in attack, Valdet Rama (Hannover 96), Kushtrim Lushtaku (1860 München) and Andreas Haddad (Assyriska) has been bought. Haddad has been really good during the preseason games and hopefully he can keep on being the striker OSK has looked for. If OSK get to keep the important players like Gerzic, Almeback, Alvbage and Bedoya in the summer they are a contender to win. This is my local team so I might be a bit biased.
Look for OSK to be one of the strongest teams at home.

                                        Last three preseason results:

                                        15 mars Valdres 0 - 5 OSK
                                        20 mars OSK 2 - 1 Elfsborg
                                        23 mars OSK 3 - 0 Djurgarden

                                          15. IFK Norrkoping
                                          16. Gefle

Very tough to predict Allsvenskan 2011 IMO, Elfsborg is the favorites along with Malmo and its hard to argue with that. Much depends on how many of their best players the top teams get to keep during the summer transfer window and how well they fill the possible gaps that appears. I think Malmo might get a tough start because of the uncertainty regarding coach Nilsson, they havent played that well during the preseason.

News - GAIS have aquired former Helsingborg player and topscorer in Allsvenskan Razak Omotoyossi. Very good transfer which will help them a lot to avoid relegation if he can be as good as he was in HIF.

I also like a big play on the Rosenborg over 3 Sunday. Rosenborg will put many through the net but until their back line shows something they'll be conceding some themselves.

                                                        Allsvenskan kicks off today but the majority of games are tomorrow and on Monday. I looked at the first round results from previous seasons and found this trend;

Not very surprising for a few reasons. The weather is bad in the transition between winter and spring, so the soccer pitches are in poor condition except for those who play on artificial grass. In the beginning there are usually mostly unders and last season I remember that lots of underdogs won.
