I really cannot see the home side that finished in 12th place last season drop their season opener in front of the home fans to Cardiff who were second in last year Championship. I like any number at 1.80/-125 or better backing the Cherries to win outright,

2. Nantes PK @ 2.40/+140 (Marathon) 1 Unit

Last season when these sides played in Nates the home side came out with a 1-0 win. There is no reason to expect any different this time. Monaco have not had a great off season and come into the match winless in their past 4. Nantes will not lose at home and now with Ranieri gone I expect them to be in the top 6 or 7 in France

FRI La Liga

3. Real Betis ML @ 1.81/-123 (Marathon) 1 Unit
4. Girona ML @ 1.83/-120 (Marathon) 1 Unit

Posting early as I can only see the odds shortening for both Spanish match ups for Friday.

Betis come into the game on the back of a 10 game home undefeated streak. Levante have a poor away record 4W 18L 8D since 2016. Betis have won the last 5 head to head encounters. Levante have also failed to score in the last 4 games vs Betis. I have to back the Seville side to win their home opener.

Real Valladolid are my choice to be relegated back down to the Segunda division, they simply lack the quality to stay up.Girona finished last season in 10th spot where as Valladolid were 5th in the 2nd division and won a playoff to get promoted. Numbers wise Girona beats Real Valladolid in every category so getting any price of 1.50/-200 or better is value.

FRI Ligue 1

5. Reims +0.5/Double Chance @ 2.25/+125 (Bet365) 1 Unit

I like backing newly promoted sides at home. Reims play their home opener on the back of an away victory vs Nice on Saturday. Lyon are missing starting GK Lopes who is suspended as well as defender Marcal who is injured. The last time these 2 met Reims won 4-1 back in 2016. I think we might see a draw but I would not be surprised if the home side won. Reims have a good home record 14W 3L 4D versus Lyons away record 17W 10L 5D.

6. Real Betis/Levante OVER 2.5 @ 2.02/+102 (Marathon) 1 Unit

La Liga averaged 2.695 goals per game last season. Real Betis averaged 3.18 & Levante 2.68 goals per game. This fixture last season ended with a 4-0 scoreline. Form wise 5 of the last 6 games for both teams ended over 2.5.

Ligue 1 have had over 25% of matched end level last season. This year in round one not a single game ended tied.I think this game is the best pick for a draw in round 2. These 2 sides are very evenly matched both taking 5 points out of their past 5 games. At home Dijon took 7 points out of 5 games exactly the same for Nantes on the round. The ElO rank between these 2 is almost the same 1561- 1571. The last head to head meeting was a 1-1 Draw

The line movement in this match up puzzles me, when it first opened it was 1.64/-156 for the home side to win. Not much has changed yet the line moved to a level where I'm pulling the trigger. Angers are winless in their past 10 games 7L 3D. Rennes are 3-1-1 in their last 5 games at home compared to 1W 4L in the past 5 away for Angers. Rennes have also won the last 2 head to head meetings both home and away last season.

Celta de Vigo have only lost once past 14 home games last season in La Liga including draws with both Real Madrid & Barcelona. The visitors Espanyol had an away record of 4W 7D 8L. head to head Celta de Vigo have won 3 tied 3 & lost only once to Espanyol since 2015.

I get the feeling Napoli might start slow with new manager Ancelloti at the helm. Meret in injured so Ospina might start in goal for Napoli. Lazio have held on to Savic which is a huge bonus as he and Immobile are the stars for Lazio. The opener of the season should be tight but I hope the home side can squeeze out a win

The home side seem to have Inters numbers the last couple of years. Out of the past 7 meetings Sassuolo have won 6. Sassuolo are also in form having won 4 of their past 5 games. Inter come into the game with a whole bunch of new faces that might take some time to gel. In the past 15 away games Inter have a record of 6W 6D 3L. I expect a low scoring tight game.

I love the numbers 1699-1633 in ELO Rank, 200 - 80 in Transfer market value. 5 to 4 in Internationals on the squad. I had the odds here at 1.50/-200 was really tempted to go 3 units here but held back since La Ligas opening weekend has been a tad cruel on my accounts.

I'm jumping on this line early as I would not be surprised to see it go to even money or more by kick off time. Eibar are winless in their past 5 coming off a loss at home to Huesca. Out of the past 14 home games for Getafe they only lost to Real & Atletico Madrid. The last head to head encounted resulted in a 1-0 win for Getafe away in Eibar.

I was impressed last week with Leganes away to Bilbao losing in the last minute. This will be a home opener for this side who are facing Real Sociedad who in their past 15 away La Liga games have a record of 2W 9L 4D. The last 3 meetings between these sides have all been close 3-2 1-1 & 0-1. I'm expecting another 1-1 or 0-0 type of game.
