Yep... Most coaches are absolutely clueless about situational football. MSU get's a first down and it's game over. Let them score and give yourself a chance. The MSU D held tough, not allowing a TD and one of the FG's came from an INT return think the other was a punt return and personal foul. They definitely have issues on offense which I expected. Bell ran all over them like I predicted, can't believe the prop line for Bell's yardage was about the same as his per game average last year.
Obviously Mich ST was still in a position to score and cover if they needed the points. If BSU doesn't get some breaks on interceptions off the hands of St receivers this game might have been a shut out. I would take Mich St again if they played tomorrow, not as good a team as I thought, yet, but definitely the class between these two. BSU played a little better than I expected, still a fringe top 25 team at best, should roll over most of their weak schedule, definitely well coached.Comment -
Important that the final score reflected INTs off the hand of ST receivers, clearly an edge I do not want to expect or bet on having every game. Boise St had no edge over the MSU D. Also the fact MSU could have easily won by 11 at the game's end should be considered for future handicapping.
Definitely a big talent disparity here. Bell ran for way more yards than the entire BSU squad, MSU QB threw for 70+ more yds, and 7 more completions at a much higher %. BSU did not score a TD on the MSU D and I believe both FG's resulted from turnovers and special teams/personal foul. Cant win them all!Comment -
Yep. I had Boise with the points here and can say with 100% certainty that if they played again, I would go the other way. That MSU defense is going to be tough to deal with and I think that their QB is a little better than most people are thinking after this first game.Comment -
I'm trying to figure out how MSU's QB is a "bum." He threw for 220 yards or whatever, had two of his three INT's (at least) tipped, and this was his first collegiate start.
He was far from perfect, but I thought all things considered, he looked OK.Comment -
