#37To clarify, I meant a lot of younger football players switch to focus solely on track (late in HS, early in college). Agreed that NFL players are slow in contrast.Originally posted by k13NFL players are slow, they would get killed by average track athletes.
All the 40 times in the nfl are bogus.

what was Johnson's 40 time? like 4.2?
since bolt starts slow it might be closer than you thinkComment -

no he couldnt
you have to be able to take a hit
the guys that play now however small they are have been playing for a long time and are used to being lit up
bolt's body could never take that punishmentComment -

#44great read from 7 years ago.
can't just compare 40 yard dash to 100 meter races...
100 meter sprinters start lower and STAY lower, thus don't hit top speed until much later in their race.
in a 40 you pop up faster....
you can't compare Ben Johnson's "splits" to someone running a completely different race
BJ's "40 yard time" in that piece is inaccurate, in that they are measured differently...
track the clock starts at the gun, then the runner's have to hear and react...
in the football timed 40, the clock would start when the runner starts...putting the reaction time delay on the opposite sideComment -

#45if you give him 2 years to train I'm sure he's good for a few plays a drive. Bolt is gonna get lit by a 5'10 175 pound corner? No chance. Tackling is obviously a skill set but you guys are making out Bolt to be some kind of pussy.Originally posted by Br0nxerno he couldnt

#48You're delusional. The first time he came across the middle he'd get cut in half, and yes by a 5'10" corner. Don't know where you're from, but ask anyone who's played against a top college defensive back/linebacker (much less an NFL player) how hard they hit. The thought of Bolt "training" for a few years then stepping onto an NFL roster is laughable. He's in the right profession.Originally posted by Goat Milkif you give him 2 years to train I'm sure he's good for a few plays a drive. Bolt is gonna get lit by a 5'10 175 pound corner? No chance. #51Why would anyone ever send him over the middle? Just have him run fly routes and button hooks he'd be wide open everytime. Cowboys use to run this with Sanders sometimes as a decoy but Troy would just throw it as far as he could and Sanders would go get it. Pretty simple there's a Guy in the NFL that only runs these routes named Randy moss. Him and Brady made a living doing this.Comment -

#52yeah the hitting is the part that people are missing
most football players slowly ramp up as they progress from youth leagues to HS to college to Pro hitting, and from what i've heard there is a HUGE jump in the power of hits in those last two progressions....
going from A-B-C-D-E-NFL is one thing
but going from nothing to-NFL is unpredictable
but I have a feeling he'd get jammed up at the line of scrimmage the first few plays with double coverage, and he'd et knocked on his ass2-3 times in the first 5 yards. Even at the expense of a few penalties, just to fok with his headComment -

#54As has been said, he loves his cricket, and money wouldn't be an issue for him. Would be awesome to go and watch him play a game in the Big bash, and would be insane if he took part in the half time sprint of the AFL grand final!
Is he even a fan of NFL? It isn't really worth wasting the time thinking about, because it would never happen.Comment -
