The Chinese are less athletes and more human machines, sent off by their parents and designed to train for a particular Olympic sport from the time they're very young and deprived of any realm of normalcy or basic standards of an actual childhood. They're built and cultivated like robots.
We've all seen how this particular brand of exceptionalism turns out in Rocky IIII.
You know ur desperate when using a total medal count....
Edit: Retract. Just read previous post...

total medal count is actually the more common barometer used, although this thread was about a bet concerning the golds specifically.

Archie was talking about overall medals, and I was backing up what he said. You failed to understand his post properly, obviously. Nothing wrong with admitting mistakes, buddy.

Granted we sit behind by 2 in gold but with the overall lead by 4 but several events left favor us ending the games with the most golds and maintaining the overall medal count...US mens basketball, womens BB, womens water polo, womens soccer, womens VB, amongst track and field...
GO USA!!!

USA is over 80% to win the gold medal race at this point. Betfair market is about USA -430 right now.
There's no more bullshit like "10m women's air pistol" to win, so China is pretty much done. I think China may get to 41, but USA should be around 44 at the end.

hahaha. What rubbish.
America is the ONLY country that uses total medals, and you guys only started doing that for Beijing because it was obvious China was going to win the medal tally.

I'm speaking from my own experience. That's what I've seen more commonly used. It's not rubbish. Maybe for you you've seen gold more commonly used.

Does it bother you at all that US suddenly just decided to count their own way?
I don't think anyone else really cares how USA wants to count, it's never going to be correct for the other 190 odd countries and kind of amusing how pathetic it is.
Just win it fair. Plus it's not even necessary anymore post Beijing. It's just plain stupid to continue it.
But I'm sure things will swap back to the regular way of counting in the US should China win most medals overall here.

There's really no point in counting either way. China doesn't win any medals worth a damn. They focus on sports nobody plays, like "10m women's air pistol". And create professionals in those hobbyist sports. That medal is worth nothing. A bronze medal in tennis, basketball or soccer is infinitely more important.
The Chinese men win no medals of any significance, with the possible exception of badminton.
The USA has completely dominated this Olympics. Again.
