I've always thought Patty would make a great tout. He's a natural-born marketer and performer, willing to endure insane amounts of humiliation and derision in order to maintain his self-image as a villain and an underdog. He'd also make a brilliant bookmaker, and I've told him that many times. Sadly, he has one of the worst cases of self-sabotage I've encountered and has an infinite list of excuses for why careers which play to his substantial talents aren't viable for him.

I think fear of success is a trait common to a lot of gambling addicts and degenerates. There are a lot of undertones present in gamblers that suggest they want to lose, as though they somehow deserve it. Why else do you lay -110 in an already efficient market where you're almost guaranteed to have less information than is necessary to win? Likely because you perceive your life as an exercise in futility and have given up trying to change it.

Or how do you explain a guy posting a series of bets in this thread with insane yield (albeit over a small sample) while simultaneously asking for points loans to go all-in with after busting out a real-money account for the 4,235th time? By definition there's a behavioral dysregulation at work, an anxiety so overwhelming that after seeing a possibility of genuine success within reach it's compelled to go all suicide bomber on his dreams.

It's painful to watch, and I keep posting in this thread hoping to one day see the pattern broken for good. I know fitguy and a ton of other sheep would probably mourn the loss of a good tail, but I for one would be elated to see this ugliness come to a long-overdue end.
