Last time I voted, Ed Broadbent was leader of the NDP and I wanted to support his environmental policies. Maybe that was before you were born. I have the impression you are fairly young (no offense intended). Well I dunno.

Technically could have mailed in a vote I guess (been out of the country < 5 yrs). Not voting though. Typically I would vote Liberal in federal elections and conservative in ontario provincial, but not happy with the current federal Liberal party anyway. So I don't even know who I'd vote for if I did vote. Maybe conservative, wouldn't mind seeing a majority just so we can stop having so many damn elections.

I seriously don't see the point of voting though. It's another one of those societal norms that people just blindly do. And that being said, MOST vote for an MP for the WRONG reasons.

1. They vote because the MP is the same religion, same language as them. (ie. cote st luc in montreal will ALWAYS have an english jewish MP)

2. SOME vote conservative simply because they are rich and also racist and are scared of changes because they are well off.

3. Some just vote the same party every election becasue they are just used to it.

4. Younger people vote alternative (ie. marxist-leninist, or independent) just to be rebellious.

5. A lot make up their minds in the 2 minutes they are in the voting booth.

How can a system like this be popular? NONE of these people should vote! And these 5 categories make up a large MAJORITY of voters. Don't take their right away, but they should have the sense to realize they don't HAVE TO VOTE!

That's why I HATE these fukking people saying 'GO VOTE. YOU HAVE TO VOTE! PEOPLE DIED SO YOU COULD VOTE!' Man I just want to slap these idiots.

Voted right before i went to play 18 today. Have always voted and will always vote. You have no right to complain about things if you don't make the effort to have your voice heard.

that's incredible.. i live in Cote St Luc now and all my friends are jews too.. there are more jews here than all of Israel.. true.. and like you, i lived in NDG for half of my life too..all my buddies there were italian. what street in NDG did you grow up on.. i bet i can tell you if you gave me the 1st letter of it.. i know every street in NDG and CSL..

also, russians are starting to pour in cote st luc everywhere.. i swear, they are catching up to the jews.. i am freakin out. i hate this.

or anyone from toronto... are there alot of russians in toronto now.. the population of russians in montreal, or at least where i am from is growing so rapidly, it's incredible.. my whole building (400 apts) used to be 98% jews, 10 yrs ago. now, it's 82% russians..

Nicky, I don't believe there is a large Russian population here, it's probably higher in Montreal, the only Russians I know personally are the women employed as massage attendants at the local rub and tugs. The massage places here seem to be predominately filled with Russian women.

The largest populations here are Italian, Chinese and of course Indian. Many nations are represented here but those are the big ones.

I don't disagree that we have Russians here, but their numbers are dwarfed by other immigrant communities. Woodbridge is a good example, 95% Italian, approx 400,000 Italians here, Russians not even close to those numbers. Plus the Italians are established and have money, not so for the Ruskies.

Nicky, I don't trust the Russians either, I've personally known a few and these guys were not interested in working, theyd rather steal your car.
