Ghenghis, there aint nuttin in the world that u can say that will change thousands and thousands of years of civilization .... vs savages running around in thongs coming home to mud huts and bathing themselves straight from a cow's pee hole.
I know liberals like to preach otherwise, but it takes half an ounce of common sense to even realize this.Comment -

#47the question was direct but it didn't have a malicious tone. it would have been a good opportunity for stern to say "you know, i'm glad you asked that, because..." and turned it into his soapbox. as he said, he has never been asked that directly before, so regardless of what you think about rome, you have got to admire that he would ask that question. you can be "gangster" and still get a couple of cheapshots in on rome while you're effortlessly debunking the fix stuff, and sort of, i guess you would say command some respect without essentially turning the response into "how about this, eff your mother, stop raping your son, and blow me when you're done, rome." i mean, it clearly gets under his skin about as much as anything related to your job could, probably because it is fixed and helped facilitate the sale of the team (too bad rome didn't go there), but stern came off like a bum there, honestly.Comment -

#50rome did nothing wrong. he asked something all nba fans and media have speculated for decades since knicks got ewing.
stern looked like a huge jackass using a completely inappropriate allegory. he could simply have asked if the smack off was fixed too. then they both would have a laugh and gladly moved on to the next question.
guarantee stern will be raked over the coals by the media all day tomorrow.

#65As a talk show host, Jim Rome is no stranger to tense exchanges with guests, but Wednesday’s back-and-forth with NBA commissioner David Stern went down an uncomfortable road.
Talking about the NBA draft lottery — where the New Orleans Hornets, a team owned by the league but is in the process of being sold to Saints owner Tom Benson, won the No. 1 overall pick — Rome asked Stern: “Was the fix in for the lottery?”
“I have two answers for that,” Stern said. “No, and a statement: shame on you for asking.”
After some wrangling over the legitimacy of the question, which Stern called “ridiculous” and “silly,” the NBA commissioner asked Rome, “Have you stopped beating your wife yet?”
There was a long pause before Rome said, “Yeah, I don’t know that that’s fair.”
Stern, by all accounts, wasn’t painting Rome as a wife-beater — something he has no known history of doing — but rather combatting what he apparently felt was a loaded question — wherein the question itself implies guilt an any answer confirms it — from Rome by responding with one of his own.
Speculation about the draft lottery possibly being fixed has been around since its inception. In 1985, the first year the league used the lottery system, conspiracy theories were flying after the Knicks landed the No. 1 pick and drafted Patrick Ewing, a franchise-changing, future Hall of Fame center.
After Rome tried to smooth things over — he said he hoped Stern wouldn’t hold the lottery question against him and Stern said he wouldn’t — the commissioner’s next comments got under the nationally-syndicated talk show host’s skin.
“Sometimes you do things sometimes for cheap thrills,” Stern said, still referencing the draft fixing question.
“I did not do that for a cheap thrill. That’s not what that was,” Rome said.
Stern: “Well, it sounded like it.”
There was more tense banter — Stern said Rome’s questioning was “a cheap trick” and Rome said flopping in the NBA was a cheap trick — before Stern said, “Listen, you’ve been very successful of making a career of it, and I keep coming on,” before being cut off by the host.
“Making a career of what, though? Commissioner, I take great offense to that,” Rome said. “Making a career of what? Cheap thrills?”
“Are you taking offense,” Stern asks.
The two agreed that they’re each offended over what the other has said before Stern asks if Rome is planning on hanging up on him.
“I would never hang up on you,” Rome said.
“OK ... Listen I gotta go call somebody important, like Stephen A. Smith, now. He’s up next,” Stern said.
“Alright, you go make that call and, I’ll go talk to somebody else too I guess myself,” Rome said.

#66Why didn't he ask him why the lottery has to be done behind closed doors? If the lottery is on the up and up why can't it be done out in the open where everyone can see. Of course the thing is rigged, just like SBR poker, US markets, Toledo football and the 2004 presidential election.Comment -

#68blatantly rigging shit isnt what Stern wants to talk about these days...too many playoff games have already been manipulated and done so in a manor that was extremely obvious to the public...Thor, if Stern told ESPN what to do, they would have never let Smith and Bayless use up half their air time on crooked officiating over the last few weeks...Comment -

#70All this is over Anthony Davis????? How many Kentucky guys have gone on to fame in the current NBA besides Rondo and Tayshaun Prince. The greatest college basketball program but not so great at building NBA stars. I think Davis will shine but I thought Wall and Cousins would as well. I think they will eventually, especially Cousins, but the NBA top draft pick over the last few years is not exactly a ticket to the title outside of Blake griffin, and the Clippers are not winning titles.
The last NBA top draft picks
1.Kyrie Irving 2011 Cleveland
2. John Wall 2010 Washington wizards
3. Blake Griffin 2009 Clippers
Since 2008
Derrick Rose ,Howard ,James, Duncan. Outside of that, most first round top draft picks are really not leading their teams to titles or dominating
