#14My friend is a casino manager at Rio and said WSOP is a pain in the ass. Said it is a bunch of fat guys in electric scooters begging for comps when not playing in a event. Rio did put in a killer Chinese restaurant across from the buffet.Originally posted by jjgoldIs anyone there at least??

#16I played in the casino employee tournament twice like 5/6 years ago. Was so awesome. I didn't cash even but the atmosphere unreal. Over 120 tables in the room full during the real events. If I ever get the time and funds to play in one of the big tournaments I will definitely play.Comment -

#17good time for grinders to make some money. Play all day in satellites then if you get a seat sell it to someone for 80-90%. I sold a couple dozen main event seats in the past. Even when it got crazy big, money in hand is much better than playing the lottery IMO. Invest 1200-1500 in satellites and win a seat or two and youre looking at 17500-18K. That's just for the main event. There are a lot of events now so if you want to sit and nickle and dime your way to seat you can sell those too. I think I played in two actual WSOP events I won seats for. I probably won over 100 seats total in the years I lived in town. Could I have won one? Maybe everyone gets lucky, but IMO it takes too much luck to win those things, skill only gets you so far in a game where its all or nothing.
The thing is they have romanticized this shit so much people are oblivious to how much of a waste it is. Vast majority of these guys that win, especially the so called professionals dont have a pot to piss in and 99% of their winnings are going to a guy they owe 10 times as much to for backing them in every tournament going.Comment -

#22RYeah the starting chips were low but the levels were long. One hour each level I think. I'm not 100% sure but I think they doubled the starting chips.Originally posted by JAKEPEAVY21I also played the casino employee event around 5 years ago...terrible structure, hardly any starting chips..didn't cash, went out QQ vs AK allin preflop and guy rivered an Ace
I went out 10 minutes before the dinner break. Lost with 99 vs. 88 he turned the set. All in pre-flop as well.Comment -
