Look back at 2004. It is pretty good example. The incumbent party had a douche the public seemed to hate. The challenging party had a horrifically weak candidate.

Obviously the republicans are in an inherently better situation, due to the bias in the electoral college system, the fact remains that only one or two states matter.

Democrats thinking this is going to be an Obama win by a landslide simply have their head in the sand. Political props are the easiest to beat. Four years ago Obama was -400 to win the nomination after he had it sewed up.

The Democrats over confidence will be a strong weapon for Republicans. Democrats really need a refresher on what happen two years ago. They put their head in the sand before that election too. The conservative movement will pick up independents as it becomes clear Obama has no idea how to get the economy going. That's what independents really care about.
