        .
LA is on top of the sports world. They now own the most embarrassing single game playoff performance.

Not really. The dodgers have sucked for a few years now. One month means shit. Team seems decent but we will find out of the course of the year.

Kings have a legitimate shot to win the cup but they are going up against a hot phoenix team. Everyone thinks the kings will win that series.

              Lakers will win game 7.

Clippers will probably piss away the series to memphis.

Boston is the only sports capital of the nation.

its a few weeks into mlb season. having 15 wins at this point means nothing. Lakers are about get get eliminated.

you have one good team (the kings). big deal. and they only made it past the 2nd round. if they lose and lakers lose, you think you're the sports capital because your baseball team won for 2 weeks at the start of the season?

you act like your city has won 7 championships over the last decade and has made it to the championship 3 more times.

Tough to be a sports capital when you dont even have a football team. Hang a few more banners first before you start trying to challenge boston. All of Boston's teams have won a championship over last decade. Only 1 of your teams has. Kings havent won a cup, dodgers havent won a world series, and you have no football team.

Like I said boys..........Los Angeles is currently the sports capital of the nation!

Kings = 3 wins from the Stanley Cup Finals

Lakers = 2nd round of playoffs

Clippers = 2nd round of playoffs

Dodgers = BEST record in MLB

How many other cities have 2 nba teams? this thread it pointless, bc neither of those nba teams he mentioned or the mlb team he mentioned have any shot to win in all. In all likelihood, both nba teams could easily get swept out and the dodgers could not make the playoffs... its only May

Ohh ok. Yea it must suck to be a LA fan now. You're right...I'd much rather be a Chicago fan, we got a team in the NHL playoffs and in the NBA playoffs, ohh wait, they both got knocked out in round 1...But hey we're still better than LA, with their 3 teams still in playoffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                            you funny.

This is such a premature celebration.

If the Clippers and Lakers lose in round 2, and the Kings don't win the stanley cup, and the Dodgers don't make the playoffs, this will be one of the funniest threads I can remember.

For the record, I like the Dodgers as a team, I've said so in several threads. But a lot of the reason I like them to make the playoffs is because the NL West is terrible this year.

So you'd rather just have your philly teams not even make the playoffs?

                                      That makes no sense.

no, but by no means should you claim to be the sports capital of the nation when your teams have no chance to win a title

can't be a sports capital without one.

I don't recall him saying all 3 teams will win the championship...Which would be impressive.
What if zero teams win the championship? Then this thread was pointless, IMO. So essentially we just disagree whether championships or current playoff teams put you on top of the sports' world.

To try and settle that one, would you rather have 5 teams from your city make the playoffs and all lose or would you rather have one team make it and them win it all? Most people would choose the latter I'd think. Playoff losers are no different than regular season losers. Just a little more painful in my experience (2008 Cubs)

Ok, if Oklahoma City wins the NBA championship. Does that make Oklahoma City the sports capital of the nation on May 14th 2012?

It wouldn't make me think it's the sports capital of the nation. I would still think that LA is, the sports capital because they CURRENTLY have 3 teams in the playoffs, which is alot better than most other cities.

I'd rather have my teams still in the playoffs than sitting at home...I'd rather still see the Bulls in the playoffs even though they would of lost to the Heat...Sorry that's just how I see it as a fan...I don't care if my team isn't going to win it, I want them to make it far.

I know it's pointless arguing against you, because you're always right, but I just wanted to say that.

                                                Have a good one.

New York has a SB team, had a #1 seed in the NCAA tourny, has the best team in the NHL, has the best mlb team of all time who is still a legit threat (better then lad), and has a playoff nba team

would def take those sports teams over la's

I never realized "sports capital" could change week to week. Three weeks from now, Kings will be out, Lakers will be out and Clippers will be out. And we will still be watching the dodgers who have absolutely no chance to win it all.

Will LA still be the sports capital then? or will you find a new flavor for the day?

It doesn't. Boston is still the sports capital of the world until someone takes them down. The run of championships they had this past decade was unreal.

2 months ago, everyone would have told you the ECF and WCF finals will be Spurs/Thunder Bulls/Heat...
