Agree to disagree on this one. I think you're crazy actually. Bench was BY FAR the best defensive catcher of all time and had very similar offensive numbers to kaline. I'd listen to arguments that bench was top 5-10 all time simply because of his position. Until piazza came along he was the best defensive AND offensive player at his position all time. Well 1) that's not true. Baseball reference has bench rated much higher as an objective measure. And 2) Berra had plenty of games in the outfield so IMO he'd have to be markedly better to be considered a better offensive catcher. First off, you can't compare pitchers to position players. Secondly, it's hard to compare Jeter to other players because of the intangibles he provides. Jeter is also not a power hitter.
