This was happening before the civil rights movement -- people were voluntarily integrating in sports because people realized that a lot of black people were really good at it. Since the U.S. knows full well that blacks and hispanics can't compete with whites in the business world, they are given preferential treatment through college admissions and government contracts via affirmative action in a misguided attempt to level out the playing field.

Slavery ended 147 years ago and the U.S. has NEVER had a wall keeping anyone in who doesn't want to be here. If any black or hispanic individual believes the U.S. is biased against them, they are always FREE TO LEAVE and re-locate to other countries that they find suitable.

If a black kid wants to go to college, he/she takes the ACT, scores an average overall score, but can pretty much get into any undergraduate institution that he/she wants because of Affirmative Action. After that, if they want to pursue law school or graduate school of any kind, they'll take another standardized test, score another average pack score, and again affirmative action will bump them into any program they want. After that, they'll go on job interviews with big companies/firms... these companies/firms have quotas that they have to meet, so again, very good chance regardless of grades/interview that this AA candidate will be hired.

At the end of the day, you have a person on step 10 of a process, but they needed assistance to get from step 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10. What did that person really accomplish on their own?

When minorities see a difference in the way they are treated by law enforcement, there is a problem. When minorities see the difference in how they are treated when they go out with black friends or white friends (or even light-skinned friends), there is a problem.

I went to a bar in Nashville once on a business trip, and they would not let our black colleague in to join us. His "shirt was too baggy". I don't think they'll miss the business of six yankees. Racism is quite real, I promise.
