The NBA Slam Dunk Contest will be just one round and feature fan voting, among several rules changes for the 2012 edition.



Feb 25, 2012 - The Sprite Slam Dunk Contest is the marquee event at NBA All-Star Saturday, regardless of who is participating in the competition. There isn't a ton of star power this year with Chase Budinger, Paul George, Jeremy Evans and Derrick Williams, but all four players are fantastic athletes capable of pulling off great dunk. Their lack of notoriety to the casual fan might make them more likely to get risky. Iman Shumpert was originally selected as a participant, but had to withdraw due to injury and was replaced by Evans.

The dunk contest used to feature a panel of judges that determined the finalists. This year, the NBA is doing things a bit differently. There's just one round of dunks and the judges have been eliminated. As per usual, the fans will vote on the winner.
