I live in California so by implication you can probably assume I don't hold those views but if you do bomb me please take out the dry ceaners at the end of the street, he's got a bad attitude. You'd be surprised what the rest of the world thinks of the US, having a backbone is frowned upon in Europe.

EM, I know how the rest of the world views us. For a free country we are very ill-informed about many things. This became painfully clear to me when we re-elected Bush. When we voted for him the first time I was puzzled, but the 2nd time I was stunned and haven't recovered sufficiently to want to participate in the political process again.

That's because we have a common bond of freedom and language. Both countries also place a very similar value on things like talk is cheap and the difference between right and wrong.

If, as is very widely claimed, there was no Al Qaeda presence in Iraq before the invasion, Al Qaeda has an increased their strength in Iraq infinitely. I'd much prefer an angry mob increasing in size by 100 rather than infinity.

Intelligence from every major country in the developed world were reporting Saddam Hussein was considering turning a blind eye to Al quaida and even funding them as retaliation for the first gulf war, much in the same way Lybia smuggled a boat load of guns and explosives to the IRA a year after the US killed Gaddifis son in an air raid.
Deathpot dictators have long since realised they can pay terrorists to do their dirty work, who do you think supplies Iraq with all their IED's?....Iran, that's part of the reason they're in the crosshairs.
