--gigantic tax cuts for the wealthy that the country couldn't afford

--disastrous invasion of iraq that the country will be paying for for decades

--patriot law

--a complete violation of American principles with Guantanamo bay and other tortures

--ignoring a gigantic bubble being built in the credit and housing markets (this falls on the fed as well, but greenspan and bush were quite friendly when he cut rates to 1%) that is causing the worst US economic downturn in decades

etc, etc

I would say Bush's first term was perhaps the greatest disaster in the history of the US.

His second term has been great in comparison -- he hasn't been able to do a single ****ing thing (this is my general preference for gov't)
