Would you help a friend out in this situation?

he financed a mustang couple of years ago but didn't realize how much the monthly payment really cost. now they're gonna repo his car. he is calling all his friends for help. i helped him out once 6 months ago for like 400 dollars. he has not paid me back yet, and now he wants another loan. i think he is gonna lose the car sooner or later, so any more money i loan him would be money in the water.

would you help him out or just say **** it.

Sit him down and explain that you can help him out for the sake of his credit right now... But you want him to sign a contract on repayment terms including the previous 400... Also tell him hes gonna have to sell the car and get something a little less expensive...

They're just like credit cards only more expensive, much better to own a vehicle outright. Plus I find that many of the vehicles which require financing are usually too flashy anyway, a car should just be a reliable way of getting from Point A to Point B, not a chick magnet or some kind of status symbol. That doesn't mean to drive around in Urkel's car, but some of these prices/loans are outrageous.

How close of a friend is he...a childhood buddy...college..etc? and he can call his bank and with all the credit defaults going on right now...they would be helpful.

Agreed. I have a car that is great on gas, nothing special. It gets me where I need to go. Why would I want a flashy car when I sit in side all day and talk with you knuckle heads and wager on sports. My watch is a piece of crap, but guess what it tells me the same time that a Rolex would. I like spending money on vacations...things of that nature. Not pricey toys.

If he hasn't paid you the $400 he wont pay you the next amount of money you let him borrow. Like you said he will probably end up loosing the car anyways so why give him money that will be of no use and you wont get it back either ? Just tell him unfortunately you do not have money to let him borrow or something but don't let him borrow any more. A friend would never screw you out of money like this guy seems to be doing. He might not be doing it intentionally but he should have been smarter if he wanted more favors/help from his friends.
