I'm not a fan of the 49ers, nor did I make a huge bet.

I don't disagree that their offense played poorly this game, but that is not their strength. They did what they needed to do by slowing down the Giants and staying in the game. They had the control until Williams let the ball graze his leg. After that, the 49ers were forced to make a comeback, which is not their "game", instead of holding the Giants with their defense. They managed to do that and took it into overtime. It's possible that without the screwup from Williams, the 49ers would have just won in regulation, because it would be Eli going against one of the best defenses in the league. The defense that had been holding him all day long.

And who knows what would have happened in overtime; the game was obviously very tight. Giants couldn't score, because the 49ers have an awesome defense and punter. And the 49ers couldn't score, because like you said, they couldn't even get a 3rd down. But with all that said, it was their chance to try to go down the field again, but Williams took that away from them. With his fumble, they were already in field goal range, and the defense was deflated at that point. Every single player on that field was thinking exactly what we are... What has that idiot done?!

The point is that Williams took away opportunities for the 49ers and gave them to the Giants.
